Gyre can hear him tromping down the beach long before he actually gets there, but he refuses to actually acknowledge the doctor until he's settled down. He's half-hoping Garrot will just keep walking and leave him to his food. But he also knows that leaving tension between fellow soldiers will always lead to bad news in the moment. Maybe it would be good if they talked.
His back goes tense when he hears the clonk of the metal thermos on the rock, the sound totally unexpected after Garrot finds a spot. It takes him a good second of panicked thought before he realizes what it could be and... he doesn't know what to think. Did Garrot carry that around all day? Why? He can't help but turn his head in that moment, finally looking Garrot over, recognizing that he even exists.
The question is met with silence, Gyre's brow furrowing in this careful curiosity. Maybe the doctor wants to work things out in the same way he does deep in his chest.
"I'll listen," he murmurs eventually, turning his gaze back to the ocean and his food. He doesn't want to promise a conversation when he doesn't know what Garrot wants. While he doesn't want to leave down the beach with his bare, wet feet, he absolutely will if the other talks at him like he did before. Hopefully it'll go better then that though. He doesn't want enemies, really.
