He was almost begging for Gyre to give him a task that would please him. He just can't believe that this man won't leap in front of a bullet to save any one of them at this point.

It's also not his business to deny that though. Certainly not if he wants Garrot to be able to work with him in the future anyway. He'd already gotten so angry about Gyre even hinting that he was dishonest. Truth is, he's pretty sure this dude is lying to himself. Pushing on it won't help though, he doesn't think, and so he shrugs gently.
