He smiles and the smile is incredibly painful at first. He does his best to fucking fix it while the other explains who this man is and does an incredible job of never saying the word partner. Or spouse. Or husband. He talks about this guy adopting his kids, and yet he doesn't call him his husband!

Gyre sounds immediately skeptical as he pipes up, "You told me you didn't have a partner!" He arches an eyebrow at him, a playful judgement on his face.
