"The monster is only the aberration on the train, that is something different." The Protector's voice comes to Luka in this moment, referring to the heat from beneath. Seems like he's aware of what Luka's feeling too!

The heroes aren't going to get very long to celebrate their escape, though. Nearly thirty feet up the hill, the side of the train gets smashed out by the monster's fist. It lumbers its body forward out the side of the train and it drops.

It drops in the same way a sack filled with bricks falls, and lands: Heavy, fast, and with a loud, abrupt impact at the end that kicks up dust all around it.

It takes several moments before it starts putting its hands out to stand itself up again. At least it's not fast?
