If they wanted to murder him, they would've beaten him to death with twenty six cases! But as it stands, he's playing along so there's nothing terrible that's going to happen. When he moves forward to take case 13 from the figure, it offers it out to him. Once it's taken from them, they step to the side and literally merge with another figure holding another case.
