"Shh, sh, sh," he hushes, entirely gentle, tilting his head to watch his face. He offers his body for as long as Garrot needs it for balance, moving in towards him even as he finally disentangles himself. He waits there for several beats, eyeing the other.

It's only once he's sure he won't fall that he takes a step back. "We're going to be okay," he says calmly, and he closes the distance to the child, plucking their little body up. Once again, he gets them balanced on his hip with a practiced ease before returning to Garrot's side.

"Hold onto me. Don't try to move ahead. We don't need to move fast, we need to move safe. Okay?"
