The arrow whistles past him and that returns his attention to her, returns him to the moment. He's looks incredibly uncomfortable, mixtures of rage and sadness and exasperation all warring for a place in his expression. He doesn't know what to do with himself, but he puts the shield back up a second later, fixing his attention on her.
