Luka smiles weakly at Gyre's gesture. "He could be watching us right now. He can see almost anything he wants to, unless the Wizard blocks him from it."

Though his hands have calmed, Luka's heart races fast in his chest.

"The Protector is singularly minded. He doesn't care about anything else. It's a useful trait, but not one that lends itself well to empathy. I could come to him on my knees, but if he knew even that we spoke like this -- that I even considered your perspective, he would kill me. Do you see now, why I want to believe him?"
