Day 6: Morning

Morning: 6:00am - 12:00noon

[ IRL Timeframe: October 31st - November 7th 13th, 2019 ]

In the typically quiet town of Craydon, most residents know that the beach is only a short walk away from the train station at the base of the mountainous region they live in. They've constructed a long wooden path out to the edge of the sandy area, with a number of benches available for any residents. Typically there are a handful of locals either walking, relaxing, fishing, or ocean watching on this normally quiet and uneventful beach. But today, at sunrise, the Wizard and the Protector are on the beach. The Wizard has made short work of sending everyone away but a few have remained to post it to social media.

It's a stalemate, for the most part. For every blow one flings, the other parries it. For every shout, there's one in return. Most unsettling, however, is that they're arguing in a language that isn't native to this world.

Far Haven isn't having an uneventful morning but it is having a quiet morning. The Hospital is looking better after the events of Day 5, the front doors are now available for use and a construction team is hard at work undoing the damage that had been done the previous day. It's definitely not fixed yet, but it's clearly on the way.

That isn't the big event that's drawing people's attention, though. Six, today's monster, has borrowed a chair from inside the hospital's lobby and placed it in the courtyard right outside the front doors. He can be found sitting, one leg propped up over the other and showing off one of the cowboy boots he's wearing, with a clipboard leaned up on his leg. Two of his arms are sitting on the armrests, casually drumming like he's impatient. Two more arms are folded across his front, and the last two arms are holding and writing on the clipboard. His yellow skin is bright as the sunlight hits him, but he's clearly ready for the sun with a pair of aviator sunglasses covering his eyes. Are there multiple eyes under there? He's wearing a cowboy hat with a white bandana around his neck and thick hair(?) bound up in a ponytail dangling off the back of the chair. This monster's a cowboy!

Oh, and there's a huge double-headed axe propped up against his chair. Can't forget that, that's scary.

Bamborough is a strange blend of eventful and not. The Child's boat is back and social media has made no secret of where they headed: Breakfast. The Bamborough Diner, a staple location in the tourist town, has been serving them meal after meal all morning. They're on their sixth meal, stuffing pancake after pancake into their mouth. They've been using the diner's picture-filled menu to order item after item and they haven't repeated one yet. It's time to EAT!

But with all this happening, surely the heroes won't be up to anything else? There's definitely no reason why the Wizard has suddenly chose to go toe-to-toe with the Protector this morning, right? No way, no how.

There's definitely a reason.

Sixth Morning Event:: The Fight.

The Weather

  • A little foggy.
  • 55°F / 13°C
  • Uh, grab a jacket, it's actually chilly.

Prompts:

  • 06:00am The Beach, Craydon: Today, at sunrise, the Wizard and the Protector are on the beach. The Wizard has made short work of sending everyone away but a few have remained to post it to social media.

It's a stalemate, for the most part. For every blow one flings, the other parries it. For every shout, there's one in return. Most unsettling, however, is that they're arguing in a language that isn't native to this world.

The heroes can try to get close, but they'll eventually find a barrier in their way. Is your hero here? Are they talking to others? Is there anything they can do? Or do they know more about what's happening than they've told others?

  • 07:00am Harsen Island Regional Hospital, Far Haven: Far Haven isn't having an uneventful morning but it is having a quiet morning. A Brand New Seth?

[personal profile] silentwords 2019-10-31 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Seth can be found walking around pretty much the whole island, trying to get a grasp on what's going right now, though using the train to travel more quickly between the towns.

So pretty much anyone can grab him aside to try and catch up with him, as well as discuss the changes to his behaviour.

Early AM, Texting & In Person

Good morning everyone! You're all going to receive a text! Gyre sends the exact same message to everyone individually, something which takes more brain power then he cares to admit!

I have something I need to show you. It's important. It's about this game we're all trapped in.

Gyre spends much of the morning sitting on a bench on the main street of Bamborough. He looks vaguely uncomfortable the entire time, watching anyone who gets a little too close to him with a wary eye. When he's not eyeing people though, he's on his phone, brow furrowed as he actually puts effort into figuring out how this damn thing works. At last! What a change!

As the sun gets higher though, he's going to start wandering the island, trying to track down every single Hero, especially anyone who didn't answer his text.

It's on his way out from diligently people watching on his bench that he passes the diner. He'd seen something about something happening here, and curiosity makes him pause and peer into the window.

The child catches his eye immediately with that giant stack of plates and the way the waiters don't quite seem to know what to do with them. He pauses there outside the restaurant, hoping briefly that he's caught the end of the meal and they'll come walk out where he can talk to them in the air like a normal person. A second later, a waiter walks out with another plate, and he sighs deeply. Resolves himself to go into this stupid building.

And then he forces himself to enter, ignoring the waiter who tries to seat him, and walking right up to the kid's table. He pauses there... and then sits in the booth opposite them. He watches them for a moment, glancing at the dirty plates they've already been through. He uh actually has no idea how to start this conversation. Hello child.

Gyre doesn't make it out here until later in the morning, closer to noon. Hopefully Six has had a good day writing on a clipboard. Gyre walks right up to him, looking between him and his big axe for several seconds before he says, flatly, "If you want to fight someone, we can fight. Don't hurt other people though."

Luka rolls over in bed at the sound of his phone receiving a text. It's normally something he'd ignore in favor of getting more beauty sleep, but he'd filtered out texts from unimportant and irrelevant contacts-- and so he grudgingly feels around on the sheets beside him until his hand makes contact with his phone.

He holds his phone to his face as it reads back Gyre's text before he taps a message back in return:

Something to show me? I hope you don't mean literally. I'm not the best man for that job.

Oh. He hadn't thought about that. Would Luka even get anything out of this experience? It's probably better to have them all in one place, right? He mulls this over before eventually responding.

I want to bring everyone to the place I mentioned last night. The chamber where he continues the spell every year. You might be able to feel something there that the rest of us can't?

Well that's weird. He double-takes when the weapon changes, staring at the new bow with a curious attention.

"It was an axe. Now it's a bow. What'd you do?"

"Oh uh... water?" he asks, startling a little at the sudden presence of the waiter. He shrinks down away from them slightly, not even beginning to relax until they've walked away.

Immediately he sets the menu down on the table, completely unsure what to do with it, and he turns to watch the kid push the plate across the way to Fen. He watches this for a moment, completely unable to stop himself from smiling softly, sadly at them.

"You..." he begins, turning back to the child. "Do you have a name?"

Oh, is he gonna be one of these? He sighs slowly, watching Six as he starts to write.

"Use an axe to chop wood. Use a bow to hunt, sure," he answers after a moment. "What are you writing?"

[personal profile] sustainer 2019-11-01 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
He doesn't understand what the fuck that means.

"What are you talking about?"

[personal profile] sustainer 2019-11-01 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
He gives them a confused smile when they squint like that. He doesn't know what that's supposed to mean, or why they'd be so mad at him for asking a name. All he can do is continue like things are still okay. He's sure they'll let him know if they want him to go.

"Sxicq? It's... good to meet you," he says, his voice going soft and thoughtful for a moment. "I'm surprised you came back..."

[personal profile] sustainer 2019-11-01 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
He shakes his head, refusing to get caught up in The Question Hole with another one of these people. He doesn't need to play your game, Six!

"What are you writing? Can I see?"

He has no idea, but he stares at it for a long time, trying to glean as much as he can out of the sketches at least. He can't pretend he can read this for very long though, and he hands the pile of papers back.

"What language is that?"
