At first, there's a glimmer of hope as Garrot hears his father's name come out of the Protector's mouth. He knows him, remembers him enough to get his name right, and then-

His hands ball into fists so tight that his claws pierce the skin of his palms, and his jaw is so tight it could snap bones. But he takes a deep breath in, a deep breath out.
