In response to Garrot's knocks at the doorknob and at the top of the door, he gets the exact same knock back only a moment later. But after the knock, Garrot will get what he wants. A voice that feels like a whisper settles in just beside each of his ears. It's like she's beside him, whispering directly beside his ear, but she's not here, even if he looks. How is her voice doing that? He's alone, in this hallway, outside her door.
