Day 1: Evening

The first day has come to a close, the only things left to do are get some food and get some rest. Fortunately the residents of Bamborough are hosting a party to congratulate the heroes on their first victory, unfortunately it's running for several hours this evening. There's only so much time for sleep. What kind of balance will your hero try to strike?

Unfortunately for everyone, the evil-allured knights will be treated to a rude wake-up surprise when they finally go to sleep. No matter when they finally set their head down to rest, they all wake up at the same time, in the same place. Only the evil-allured knights will have access to this post, click to see if you've been chosen.

The good-allured knights, meanwhile, are free of a visit tonight with the Princess and the Protector. The two of them, however, are due to have a chat. Questions have to be answered, after all! He's dressed in his usual attire:

He's the same height as Luka with dark skin and vivid blue eyes that match the color of the sky. He has wicked winged white eyeliner to accent his eyes and curly black hair with white tips piled on top of his head, it's a wonder how it stays up there. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, he's wearing a pajama robe that looks either blue or silver depending how it's touched or how it moves. Most importantly is that he's got brass knuckles on both his hands, like he's ready to fight. But he's not here to fight, he's here to give a whisper about what comes next.

• Bamborough Party: To celebrate the defeat of the first monster, a full banquet is being held near the beach in Bamborough. Unlimited food, unlimited drinks, and most importantly of all was a small stockpile of blankets, sheets, pillows, and toiletries to offer any knight who might've forgotten something on the way out here. Naturally, every item is sponsored.


• You're all over Social Media!: Videos were successfully taken of all twelve knights and the princess during the first battle, and now the world is abuzz about what happened! What are they saying about your hero? How did they even get this footage? Or worst of all, how bad are they dissing your camera skills for those that recorded themselves?


• A late night walk: The first day is over, the first monster is dead. How's your character holding up? Do they seek out support from a fellow hero? Do they spend it alone? What kind of night are they having now that it's all real?


• A late night meal: Anyone leaving the Bamborough party late enough will be able to spot that a local late night ramen shop is open for business. If your hero hasn't quite eaten enough, they can drop by for a bite. But be warned, a certain sleepy villain is getting a bite to eat herself. Care to share a ramen bar meal with the enemy?

"Wait..." Garrot lets out a whine as the wheels start turning. "You're not planning on learning trial-by-fire with the monsters, are you?!"

It'd be gutsy and badass, but also really dangerous! "Unless you mean, like, target practice?" He's real set on this laser thing deep down.

"No, no no, I really doubt I'd have any chance to use it on a monster," Luka says with a laugh. "I just meant it isn't really something you can practice at a blank wall, you know?"

[daddykong]

Garrot raises an eyebrow and strokes at his beard, squinting curiously at Luka. "If you can't use it on a Monster or a blank wall, what could you use it on?"

He's starting to suspect that Luka already knows if he can do something fancy, and is just hiding it.

"Another person, obviously! I don't think a monster would listen to me sing."

[daddykong]

"Wait, what can your singing do?" His expression remains just as baffled as before. "I mean, aside from get you record deals and a worldwide fanbase." Garrot knows Luka's singing is good, but is there something more to it?

"A voice can be a very powerful persuasive tool. But don't go thinking I used any magic to get to where I am. It's not THAT powerful."

[daddykong]

"Oh." Garrot is glad Luka is blind, because otherwise his lascivious grin would betray just where his mind went. But he pushes that down with a simple chuckle.

"Don't worry, nobody is crazy enough to want to uae magic to be here." Except a younger Garrot would've done so in a heartbeat if he could. "Do you have anything in mind? I mean," a lighthearted scoff, "you're the boss, you can just ask."

"Not everyone is always so willing to help, so it comes in handy. I haven't had to use it yet, anyway."

[daddykong]

He scratches at the back of his neck, a little uncomfortable. Is that... ethical to use on people?

"Well here's hoping you won't have to." Garrot winces a bit. Do ethics matter if it's for the sake of the world? "I mean, who the fuck wouldn't want to work with you?" And then he gasps and brings a hand to his mouth, realizing he just dropped an f-bomb at an international celebrity.

"Oh, you flatter me, Dr. Murtakhor," he says with a laugh. "But you would be surprised. There are all sorts of difficult people out there, and most are difficult for the stupidest of reasons."

Garrot's faux pas amuses Luka. He'd been so polite in conversation, and the sudden foul language added a passion behind his words that pleased Luka's ego.

"I mean, there's a chance some of the Knights this year will want to work against me. They'd be complicit in the end of the world. How stupid is that."

[daddykong]

"You'd be surprised." He scoffs, rolling his eyes. "We're almost hard-wired for bad choices. I don't want to spoil your dessert, but people have ended up in my office for things you wouldn't believe." And then he just starts laughing in one of those condescending ways.

The idiocy this man has seen, Luka.

Luka laughs along too. He was no stranger to the occasional condescension.

"Oh, I don't even want to know all the things you've had to pull out of people who got a little too brave one night."

[daddykong]

Honestly, Luka is one of Garrot's favorites, he brought the train of thought to its disgusting conclusion all on his own!

"It's at least a couple times a year, and I always make an ass out of myself because I keep making jokes." The doctor just sports a snide little smirk as he chuckles to himself before turning it around. "I take it you've seen some stupidity from some of your fans?"

[eutychia]

He taps his chin. "Fans have done some wild stuff for sure. One time, one of them got access to my hotel room by pretending to be housekeeping staff. But's more the higher-ups in the industry that can be the real pain. At least fans are passionate, you know? The suits are just soul suckers."

[daddykong]

Garrot's eyes go wide and he gasps at the invasion of privacy, but it devolves into a grumble. Why are people like that?! But then there's something better.

"Ugh, right?!" He throws his hands up into the air before remmebering that Luka can't see it. "I'm not gonna say I take a shot of whiskey every time I have to meet with the Board, but..." His tone insinuates that he absolutely does.

"Oh, that's a great idea," Luka laughs. "I've got to remember that for next time."

[daddykong]

"I mean the real trick, hypothetically," he is obviously not talking in hypotheticals, "is to find something that won't stay on your breath. Or use mouthwash."

He pauses for a beat, and then can't help himaelf from chuckling. "Or you just offer them some of whatever you're drinking!" That has to be a joke, right?

[eutychia]

"I think that honestly might work in my favor. I doubt you could get away with it so much with it in the medical field, though."

[daddykong]

He shrugs. "Maybe, unless you make it some kind of like... casual event." Garrot is really trying. "But... they probably wouldn't go for that." Another beat.

"Really it's their fault for being so boring we have to cope like this!" And now he's a bit more like a grumpy old man than a respectable doctor.

[eutychia]

"It's true and you should say it." Luka laughs. "Invite me to your next board meeting. I'll make sure it isn't a boring time."

[daddykong]

Garrot stifles a chuckle, because he feels a bit bad for being so mean towards his... colleagues? Soulless overseers?

"Please, they'd absolutely lose their minds. And you could even persuade them to loosen up a bit!" Ethics be damned, those suits need to unwind so much.

[eutychia]

"Hey now, persuasion is one of my talents, remember?" He winks.

[daddykong]

"Fantastic, it's a plan!" Garrot has taken to grinning mischieviously, because that wink might have enabled him. But then he raises an eyebrow, and his demeanor falters a bit and he strokes his beard.

"Is there anything I could do to help you out?" He sounds a little sad, mostly because he's not sure what he could even do for someone as cool as Luka. Garrot doesn't want to seem like he's taking advantage of him!

"Help me out...?" Luka says, his voice tinged with confusion. "I'm sure there's a lot you could teach me. I'm just not sure what exactly yet. Maybe we'll call it an IOU for now?"

[daddykong]

"No problem at all!" He doesn't mind Luka having an IOU for his services. That's cool! It means he'll get to hang out with an awesome celebrity more! Plus, y'know, he did offer to help however he can.

"I've taught people how to fight, and I could teach you some first aid, but..." Teaching people medicine makes him really nervous, actually. "I don't even have to teach you anything! Let's just call it a favor. Whenever you need it." Honestly he wants to mention that he's ridiculously strong and could even do manual labor if Luka needed him to, but. That'd be a bit weird of a segue and he's trying to impress the Princess, not creep him out.
