Day 2: Monster Arrival
Afternoon: 12:00noon - Evening
[ IRL Timeframe: April 1st - April 14th, 2019 ]Unfortunately for the heroes, only one of them has an easy time when the monsters arrive. In the history of the wizard fights, it was rare but not unheard of for multiple monsters to arrive. Years 12, 22, and 30 had featured three of a monster but only one was real. Year 9 had featured the tenth monster as ten individuals that all came together into one. And, most strangely, years 4, 13, 26, and 37 had featured a monster that had an active and an inactive body.
This year, the second monster appears in two places.
The first arrives in Craydon, its massive body just a ball of metallic spikes with two bright orange eyes in the middle. It looks like a massive urchin, its body easily close to ten feet across where it's sitting on the train tracks ahead of the train arriving. Its spikes stick out easily another ten feet in every direction, making it a gigantic terrifying ball. The party train's arrival to its 12:25pm destination ends with the conductor locking up the brakes to bring the train to a stop. This sucks!
The second arrives in Bamborough, its massive body easily sixty feet up in the air suspended atop dozens of small, thin metallic spikes for legs. Its two orange eyes scan down at the world below, its spherical body covered in smaller spike nubs on all other sides. The eyes aren't fixed in place, either, and they're scanning the oceanfront as it moves around. It's definitely looking for something and it's visible for miles. Good luck, everyone!
Monster Fight Opportunity: Bamborough: Haizea, Seth, Garrot, Gail, Zafika, Terrence, Matilda.
The Weather
- Windy.
- 61°F / 16°C
- The trees are rustling, leaves flowing through the air.
Prompts:
- 12:25pm Train Arrival: The party train comes to its final destination in Craydon at 12:25pm. The reason that it's a final destination is due to the monster on the tracks. Oh god, it's right there? Oh god, oh GOD??? When the train comes to a screeching halt, all the non-heroes quickly scamper out of the train to flee for safety. Good luck, heroes!
- 12:30pm, Ramen, Far Haven: Social Media is abuzz that the Wizard has left the power plant and has gone to one of the chain ramen restaurants in Far Haven. The restaurant is known for its decent ramen, but everyone knows it can't compare to the local shops around the island. This is the "I just want to eat" ramen restaurant. But more importantly, this one has some sports bar qualities and has TVs up on the walls to watch. The Wizard is here, seated close to one of the TVs, and she's watching the events unfolding in Craydon and Bamborough. How is she doing that? Who's recording?
- 12:30pm, The Bamborough Monster: Out on the waterfront boardwalk, the monster is lumbering its way along the wooden walkways seemingly in search of something. The few shops that were open are closing up as quickly as possible, the last thing they need is their already minimal business ruined by a visit from this monster. Please, someone come help.

"I've got some noseplugs if you need 'em, we can't have you dying on us, Mr. Torrence!" Garrot follows up with a wry little laugh before grabbing two more medical wipes and giving Haizea his full attention. He whispers out another "This might sting a little" before sterilizing her shoulder wound even more gingerly than he'd handled Seth's. Then he follows up with the head laceration, wiping down about half of her head and scrubbing at the edges of her existing wrapping. He'll touch that up afterwards. The whole process takes a minute, tops.
"Whenever you two are ready." The words are about as confident as they can be since he saw Seth's wounds heal like they were nothing. Zea shouldn't start bleeding out, and if anything goes wrong he's right here. She'll be fine. And he trusts Terrence with this! But he's not moving, he's staying right here. Just in case.

"Ah, hang on one minute, before I forget," she says, then calls Fumicq. She points at her naginata lodged in the boardwalk some distance away and has them change it back into a brass knuckle, which she then slips into her pocket for safe keeping. It wouldn't do to leave her weapon behind, right?
"Alright," she looks at Terrence and nods, "do your thing!"

He...couldn't help but both admire and be a little jealous of how well Haizea was taking and handling all of this though. And she was way more hurt too! He wished he could be as cool and collected as her even half the time...
He hoped she'd be okay soon enough.

Alley-oop, once again..! Haizea will feel much the same sensations as Seth and in much the same order, except that the tiredness won't stop. In fact, it only continues to grow - even as the stabbing pain of her wounds throbs, the desire to sleep outpaces it until eventually, even one with willpower as strong as her own cannot resist.
Although slower, the wounds are still closing up just as before, so it doesn't seem like anything has gone wrong, really, but Terrence is still a bit surprised as his patient passes out and, uh. Isn't responding. At all. At least not to his voice or multiple light paps to the face! Her pulse and breathing are still present, however, and if anything seem to have stabilized and improved, so that's good..?
"Right, well, like I said it is one's own natural healing, so... More dire injuries obviously require rest even when sped up!" Terrence is maintaining his facade of confidence, at least, which should hopefully keep anyone else from panicking. This makes sense to him, it's just bizarre putting someone into a healing coma for the first time and all. Assuming that's what actually just happened.

“W...” she tries to speak, but finds she’s lost the energy to do even that. As her eyelids lose the ability to stay open, she feels a jolt of panic as she realizes what’s about to happen; she’s going to pass out. She’s going to pass out and become completely vulnerable in front of people she wants to respect her, people she’s already begun to think of as comrades.
‘This sucks,’ is her last coherent thought before she loses consciousness completely.

"Come on Zea, you'll be fine. As long as you wake up." The voice is worried, just a little frantic, and it's coming from the Garrot that's materialized on the other side of the Dragon Knight. Because there's two of him now, and they're holding her up to make sure she doesn't just end up laying on the dirty, monster-blood-covered ground. But then the original Garrot looks to Terrence, then to Seth. He's clearly worried, but he's a bit more together than his twin.
"I'm gonna get her somewhere safe, get some monitors on her vitals. Discretely." A beat passes, and the Garrots seem intent on making a two-man stretcher and carrying her as far as they need to. He knows they can't call an ambulance for transport, since that'll draw attention and she had reasons to lie in her interviews, people to protect. The bright side is that if nothing else, his connections can buy her some privacy once they're near a clinic or hospital. He'll at least make sure she can be vulnerable in private. And so help anyone stupid enough to try and make her predicament go viral.
"What are you two gonna do?" His attention slides back to his conscious allies, but it's clear he's more concerned about Haizea. Better tell him quickly.

But he can't really do anything about it either. Ugh. He felt useless again and he hated it.
But...Garrot seemed to be handling it? And, well...Garrot had said he was a doctor and seemed to certainly able to be professional if nothing else so...he supposed Garrot had this under control. The injuries had clearly at least stopped bleeding thanks to Terrence's healing...
So when Garrot asked what they were going to do, Seth decided he'd do as he had planned, and check up on Haizea later, presumably when she would have woken up. SO he got his phone out, a bit awkwardly not wanting it to get covered in slime, and quickly typing out: "Get myself cleaned, eat and take a nap."

"I plan to see how the other team is doing, then, ah... I'm not certain... I suppose I'll see what else is occurring..? Once my power is active, it sort of does its own thing, so there's really not much else I can do for Haizea at the moment. I scarcely believe she'd want all of us doting over her either, so..!"
There's actually a lot on the rabbit's mind, but thankfully healing others is no longer one of those things.

And then both of him start walking. About an hour later, both of them receive messages in their phones, a simple She's fine. As much as Garrot wants to dote and hover, Terrence has a point, so Haizea'll simply wake up in a curtained-off, dimly lit hospital bed with a note:
You're checked in as Ophelia Vera Ercast and the staff thinks you're a civilian who got hurt in the explosion, except the doctor but she's on my payroll. You're free to go whenever you wake up, and there's a gift shop hoodie under your pillow to keep a low profile since you're bandaged and blue. No bills either, you just owe me a drink!

She disappears out of the hospital quickly and quietly and makes her way back to Bamborough and her hotel room. As much as she wants to eat immediately, she wants to shower and change her clothes more. Her clothes from earlier in the day she’ll get laundered, but the red ribbon she ties her hair up with she hand washes and hangs up to dry.
Exhausted and hungry and embarassed she may be, but she’s alive.
