Day 2: Evening

[ IRL Timeframe: April 14th - April 22nd, 2019 ]

Unfortunately for everyone, the second day's events are far less rewarding than the first day's. Now that things are starting to get real, there are consequences for what's taken place. Both monsters caused a bit of damage and a mess with their departure, but the locals on the island are trying to stay positive. Sometimes things just get messy, they've dealt with this for forty years it's fine.

But the heroes are sure to have a lot on their mind. Injuries mean it's less of a game and more likely to sink in as real. How will your hero cope tonight? The Princess and her two knights are due for a rendezvous with the Protector and, on the other hand, there are some evil-allured knights due for some private time with the Wizard. What will come of that?

Prompts:

• 05:00pm Clean-up Crews: Both Bamborough and Craydon were left with big neon-green splashes of blood that aren't going to just wash off. Numerous locals in both areas are hard at work cleaning up after the second monsters, scrubbing at buildings and assessing the damage to the island. In Bamborough, the locals are hard at work trying to salvage the damage to the boardwalk or put up caution tape around the destroyed areas. Is your hero lending a hand in all this? Is someone else helping? Bond over picking up the pieces, but hey... it could be worse, right?


• 5:30pm, Craydon: Despite being largely untouched by the monster's arrival, the citizens of Craydon have dropped by the train station to check in on the heroes. Anyone in the area will be given a small care package of items and offered a free coupon for any restaurant in the area. Will your hero go alone and run into someone who was craving the same food they were, or will they team up with their fellow heroes to drop by a restaurant together? Everyone needs to unwind, after all!


• 5:30pm, Bamborough: Despite the boardwalk damage, the Bamborough oceanfront diner is offering 'monster margaritas' tonight. They're set up as an open-air bar tonight, doors and windows open to let in the cool sea air. Every hero gets their first monster margarita free if they can stomach the bright green color, and they've got deep fried bar foods for half off. Come in, indulge, have a drink to get your mind off of the events of the day, heroes!


• 5:30pm, Far Haven: The Far Haven clinic has advertised that its doors are open to any hero injured, or just in need of a check-up, for the rest of the evening. They want to check in on all the heroes and make sure they're okay. Did your hero come alone and run into someone here? Or did they come together to get stitched up? Or maybe they just need to be reassured that everything will be okay.


• 8:30pm, 9:05pm, 9:40pm, Train station(s): As always, Social media is incredibly quick to report Wizard appearances. At 8:00pm they report that the Wizard is waiting for the train in Bamborough station. She does, in fact, board the train at 8:30pm and they start theorizing where her destination is. Social media points out that her train will be arriving in Craydon at 9:05pm, then it will get to Far Haven by 9:40pm. If a hero tries to find her when the train arrives back in the Bamborough station at 10:15pm, though, the train will be empty. Where will your hero find her? Bamborough between 8 and 8:30pm? On the train in Craydon at 9:05pm? Or when she disembarks in Far Haven at 9:40pm?

"I cannot believe I've yet to speak with our Princess!" Terrence observes from behind Luka, his tone implying that he's genuinely surprised by the realization. The rabbit knight approaches but maintains a respectful distance for the moment. "I... Hope this isn't a bad time..?" he questions, able to eye the empty glasses as he draws closer.

"Oh! Uh--" Luka starts, fumbling and nearly dropping his phone. "The Princess! That's me, Luka Eutychia, never a bad time!"

He's turned in the direction of Terrence's voice, straining a blatantly rehearsed smile. "How can I help you?"

"Terrence Torrence, rabbit knight," he returns, taking a step closer and offering a sort of half-bow, even knowing that it's largely pointless. Such a forced smile is immediately recognizable to the young CEO, considering how much practice he has at it as well.

To be honest, he'd rather let the man drink in peace... But this is business, not pleasure. "Might I join you for a moment?"

"A pleasure to finally meet you, Mr. Torrence." Luka says, beckoning him to have a seat. He seems to have snapped out of his melancholy, or at least managed to bury it deep down enough to put on a convincing facade. "I'm only ashamed it took two days."

"Right? I suppose we were both too busy with our own little crowds," he chuckles, taking the offered seat. Surprisingly, Terrence lacks a drink of his own on this occasion.

"How many of us have you met so far, exactly?" he asks, folding his arms while swiveling in the bar chair to get a better look at Luka. A rather convenient direction for the conversation to go.

"Well I haven't spoken to the centaur yet." He looks deep in thought for a moment. "And I haven't gotten a chance to really talk with Joanna or Web but they were there in Craydon fighting the monster today. That counts as meeting, right? Have you met everyone but me, then?"

[fop_lop]

"Oh, not at all," he laughs again. "You've met more than I have, in fact! But, I think that makes it all the more relevant..."

Terrence leans in and lowers his voice, though it's more in a confidential/conspiratorial way than anything threatening.

"I realize this might make me sound suspect, but don't you think you should make your knights known to everyone?"

Luka blinks in surprise. He was a little too many drinks in for this type of conversation, but he hardens his demeanor as much as possible given the topic.

"What?" Luka asks, lowering his voice to match. "To what end? I don't want to endanger them so early."

[fop_lop]

"Much as I hate to ponder it, two of us may... Not be on the same side as everyone else. Think about it - that puts them at an advantage. The Wizard's knights know who one another are, they know who you are, and everyone else is an enemy. The rest of us don't know anyone besides yourself, including the rest of our allies."

Terrence hadn't intended to pile all of this on Luka while inebriated, but now was really the first chance that had presented itself.

"This isn't a game of Mafia or somesuch where they secure a guaranteed kill every night or anything, and we don't even know if both of 'her' knights have surrendered... You're already the highest value target and no one else can disprove anyone else's claims either way."

"You have a point..." He says, sipping his drink and pondering for a minute. "I wouldn't mind telling you. But if you were aligned to the Wizard and this fucked us over? I'd be ruined. At least the world would end shortly after in that case."

[fop_lop]

A slight frown comes over Terrence, but he lets Luka take the time to consider his proposal. "I'd rather you revealed it to all of us, but I can settle for simply myself if that's what you're comfortable with."

A drink of his own doesn't sound too bad right about now, but... No. Not tonight.

Luka is quiet a moment before finishing his drink off. He leans in closer to Terrence and lowers his voice.

"Olivia and Rory. The only two I really trust." He says, his voice as quiet as he can make it. "Now you know. Do you have any secrets to tell me, then?"

For a moment or two, Terrence simply ponders the information. Olivia he's not yet met, but Rory is a relief at least - she's both pleasant and capable from what he's seen.

"Mm, thank you! I don't... Yet. But I have a plan for a spot of... Let's call it 'recon' - and I promise to share what I find." It's not exactly equivalent exchange, but then he never did agree to reveal anything in kind.
