Day 2: Evening

Evening: 5:00pm - Midnight

[ IRL Timeframe: April 14th - April 22nd, 2019 ]

Unfortunately for everyone, the second day's events are far less rewarding than the first day's. Now that things are starting to get real, there are consequences for what's taken place. Both monsters caused a bit of damage and a mess with their departure, but the locals on the island are trying to stay positive. Sometimes things just get messy, they've dealt with this for forty years it's fine.

But the heroes are sure to have a lot on their mind. Injuries mean it's less of a game and more likely to sink in as real. How will your hero cope tonight? The Princess and her two knights are due for a rendezvous with the Protector and, on the other hand, there are some evil-allured knights due for some private time with the Wizard. What will come of that?

The Weather

  • Still.
  • 61°F / 16°C
  • An eerie calm has fallen over the island.

Prompts:

  • 05:00pm Clean-up Crews: Both Bamborough and Craydon were left with big neon-green splashes of blood that aren't going to just wash off. Numerous locals in both areas are hard at work cleaning up after the second monsters, scrubbing at buildings and assessing the damage to the island. In Bamborough, the locals are hard at work trying to salvage the damage to the boardwalk or put up caution tape around the destroyed areas. Is your hero lending a hand in all this? Is someone else helping? Bond over picking up the pieces, but hey... it could be worse, right?

  • 5:30pm, Craydon: Despite being largely untouched by the monster's arrival, the citizens of Craydon have dropped by the train station to check in on the heroes. Anyone in the area will be given a small care package of items and offered a free coupon for any restaurant in the area. Will your hero go alone and run into someone who was craving the same food they were, or will they team up with their fellow heroes to drop by a restaurant together? Everyone needs to unwind, after all!

  • 5:30pm, Bamborough: Despite the boardwalk damage, the Bamborough oceanfront diner is offering 'monster margaritas' tonight. They're set up as an open-air bar tonight, doors and windows open to let in the cool sea air. Every hero gets their first monster margarita free if they can stomach the bright green color, and they've got deep fried bar foods for half off. Come in, indulge, have a drink to get your mind off of the events of the day, heroes!

  • 5:30pm, Far Haven: The Far Haven clinic has advertised that its doors are open to any hero injured, or just in need of a check-up, for the rest of the evening. They want to check in on all the heroes and make sure they're okay. Did your hero come alone and run into someone here? Or did they come together to get stitched up? Or maybe they just need to be reassured that everything will be okay.

  • 8:30pm, 9:05pm, 9:40pm, Train station(s): As always, Social media is incredibly quick to report Wizard appearances. At 8:00pm they report that the Wizard is waiting for the train in Bamborough station. She does, in fact, board the train at 8:30pm and they start theorizing where her destination is. Social media points out that her train will be arriving in Craydon at 9:05pm, then it will get to Far Haven by 9:40pm. If a hero tries to find her when the train arrives back in the Bamborough station at 10:15pm, though, the train will be empty. Where will your hero find her? Bamborough between 8 and 8:30pm? On the train in Craydon at 9:05pm? Or when she disembarks in Far Haven at 9:40pm?

Yes, thank you, Sucecq. To be fair, he probably should've run that by the companion first.

Even as Terrence watches the Wizard fall, he knows its an act. Before she even speaks he can feel a presence behind him. This is going... Pretty much exactly as he'd expected, really. Despite everything, he actually seems completely calm while facing her this time. No shaking, eyes open - though his fingers are splayed to obviously demonstrate that he is completely unarmed now. Not that any other weapon he could possibly be hiding would hurt the Wizard regardless.

"I'm actually amazed, myself. Sports aren't really my thing." The rabbit knight is making a heroic effort at keeping his legs from shaking, but it's impossible to entirely cover the quaver in his voice. He remains completely still, waiting.

"I didn't expect it to," he admits while actually heading over towards the tracks, "though I wouldn't be too torn up if it had." It gives his legs something to do if nothing else. Well, that and he'll have to get the weapon back eventually anyway, assuming he lives through this. So far still alive, so there's that!

"Not that I expect an answer, but... How much do you know about each of us? Are you omniscient?" There's still audible quaking in Terrence's words, but if he just keeps talking then he doesn't have to think about anything else.

That seems... Ludicrous, really. The Wizard doesn't have any reason to lie, and they certainly don't seem to be... But then they also don't have much of an obvious reason to do nearly anything that they do, and almost never betray any emotion regardless.

It's infuriating, and what's even worse is that he can't even tell if that is intentional either.

Terrence exhales loudly while still heading over to the tracks and bowls over the Wizard's question entirely, simply continuing with his own, "So you really don't know anything about any of our pasts? Our history, any sort of interest in or grudge against you we might have? You'd have reacted the same to that knife if any of us threw it?" What? He's already thrown a goddamn knife at the lady tonight, no point in trying to be polite now.

When he finally reaches and retrieves his weapon, it somehow feels to Terrence more like he's obediently following the Wizard's orders in doing so. He manages to comfort himself again with the idea that he'd have to get it before leaving regardless. Also, it might harm the train..? That sounds laughable for such a small object, but it is utterly impervious to the mundane, so...

"Surprisingly, I don't wish to be special," he admits, sounding exasperated enough to be totally genuine. Terrence continues looking at the Wizard as he addresses his companion, "Sucecq, how often do knights try what I just did? 'Off-camera,' I mean."

Terrence puts a finger to his chin and nods approvingly, "Sounds about right. And how often do they survive the attempt?" Y'know, Terrence, you probably could've just asked your companion all of this without the murder attempt.

He's keeping it together remarkably well by now, at least. Oh, still terrified on the inside, of course, but years of PR work and boardroom experience have cultivated quite a poker face.

"Would ending one of us in private be too boring?" he asks, this time more directly to the Wizard than his companion. "It has to be more about the spectacle than anything, right? If you actually wanted to just win you could just be done with us from the beginning."

The rabbit still isn't expecting any real answers as his tone shifts from genuine curiosity to something more like desperation. "Though I suppose if there's some greater purpose behind why you have to do things this way, it must be something so far beyond our ken that it's pointless to even speculate..."

...Dammit. He was trying to look cool and interrogate her, but now he just sounds like a confused child.

The Wizard's sudden movement (can it even be called movement at that point?) causes Terrence to visibly start, but still he holds his ground.

...Well, mostly. As she leans in closer, he in turn draws his face back while keeping his body mostly on the spot. "I'd... Well, I'd be inclined to believe you. That's sort of what I was trying to test here," he admits before swallowing hard.

For a second or two Terrence actually considers boarding. He really had only shown up here to test a theory as stated, but maybe he could learn more..?

"...No," he eventually decides, adjusting his sleeves and collar just to give his body something to do other than collapse (before she's gone, anyway). "Terribly sorry about the unpleasantness. Extreme situations, extreme measures, and all that. I hope you have a pleasant trip."
