Day 2: Evening
Evening: 5:00pm - Midnight
[ IRL Timeframe: April 14th - April 22nd, 2019 ]Unfortunately for everyone, the second day's events are far less rewarding than the first day's. Now that things are starting to get real, there are consequences for what's taken place. Both monsters caused a bit of damage and a mess with their departure, but the locals on the island are trying to stay positive. Sometimes things just get messy, they've dealt with this for forty years it's fine.
But the heroes are sure to have a lot on their mind. Injuries mean it's less of a game and more likely to sink in as real. How will your hero cope tonight? The Princess and her two knights are due for a rendezvous with the Protector and, on the other hand, there are some evil-allured knights due for some private time with the Wizard. What will come of that?
The Weather
- Still.
- 61°F / 16°C
- An eerie calm has fallen over the island.
Prompts:
- 05:00pm Clean-up Crews: Both Bamborough and Craydon were left with big neon-green splashes of blood that aren't going to just wash off. Numerous locals in both areas are hard at work cleaning up after the second monsters, scrubbing at buildings and assessing the damage to the island. In Bamborough, the locals are hard at work trying to salvage the damage to the boardwalk or put up caution tape around the destroyed areas. Is your hero lending a hand in all this? Is someone else helping? Bond over picking up the pieces, but hey... it could be worse, right?
- 5:30pm, Craydon: Despite being largely untouched by the monster's arrival, the citizens of Craydon have dropped by the train station to check in on the heroes. Anyone in the area will be given a small care package of items and offered a free coupon for any restaurant in the area. Will your hero go alone and run into someone who was craving the same food they were, or will they team up with their fellow heroes to drop by a restaurant together? Everyone needs to unwind, after all!
- 5:30pm, Bamborough: Despite the boardwalk damage, the Bamborough oceanfront diner is offering 'monster margaritas' tonight. They're set up as an open-air bar tonight, doors and windows open to let in the cool sea air. Every hero gets their first monster margarita free if they can stomach the bright green color, and they've got deep fried bar foods for half off. Come in, indulge, have a drink to get your mind off of the events of the day, heroes!
- 5:30pm, Far Haven: The Far Haven clinic has advertised that its doors are open to any hero injured, or just in need of a check-up, for the rest of the evening. They want to check in on all the heroes and make sure they're okay. Did your hero come alone and run into someone here? Or did they come together to get stitched up? Or maybe they just need to be reassured that everything will be okay.
- 8:30pm, 9:05pm, 9:40pm, Train station(s): As always, Social media is incredibly quick to report Wizard appearances. At 8:00pm they report that the Wizard is waiting for the train in Bamborough station. She does, in fact, board the train at 8:30pm and they start theorizing where her destination is. Social media points out that her train will be arriving in Craydon at 9:05pm, then it will get to Far Haven by 9:40pm. If a hero tries to find her when the train arrives back in the Bamborough station at 10:15pm, though, the train will be empty. Where will your hero find her? Bamborough between 8 and 8:30pm? On the train in Craydon at 9:05pm? Or when she disembarks in Far Haven at 9:40pm?

"Would you like to see it?" she asks secondary Garrot, placing a hand on the ribbon. Her hair is down tonight, so she'd tied her ribbon around her neck like some cross between a necklace and an ascot.
"Also, I don't mind," she says, turning to Garrot Prime, "you can let him say whatever he wants." She winks, grinning.
no subject
"It's not like that." Garrot isn't sure what he thinks Haizea thinks it's like. "You know how sometimes you have to stop yourself from saying or doing the first thing that comes to mind?" It's called having impulse control, Garrot. "Well if there's another me around, I have to do that for me and him. Or else he says stuff like that. Or worse."
He sighs, and brings his hands to his face. The clone eats another onion ring, and then starts talking while Garrot is lamenting his life. "I hope your head lac heals up well, Zea, but if it looks weird I know a plastic surgeon who can work on it a bit!"
A beat as Garrot Prime stares incredulously, realizing he can't even be mopey without a clone latching onto something. Fucking fuck his life.
no subject
"Thanks, I hope it heals up well too. If it don't though I might take you up on that, maybe get my nose sorted out too," she says, still laughing, before turning to Garrot Prime. "You know, as far as magic drawbacks go, dealin' with a lotta off the cuff honesty is a pretty entertainin' one to have. Well, entertainin' for me, at least!"
Garrot is lucky that Haizea isn't easily personally offended by much, unless he manages to touch on a Sore Spot, which is very hard to do, she keeps them quite guarded.
no subject
"But that's the thing, it's a problem!" There's a sharp exhale through his nose, and he snatches up another onion ring. "I'm already letting stupid shit slip out and making things awkward with people," and he will continue to do so, yikes, "and what if I can't stop it?!" A beat, and he looks terrified. "What if I accidentally spill our plan in the middle of a fight?!"
He's supposed to have his shit together, supposed to be the one helping people, and he has no clue what to do about this.
no subject
Honestly, she’s glad she doesn’t have Garrot’s powers, the last thing she needs is some kind of fully honest version of herself spilling the beans on all her secrets and feelings.

"Then we had the gym this morning," and that was incredibly busy, "the monster in the afternoon," and the medical work that came afterwards, "and tonight's busy..." but he won't say he's got a dinner date with an assassin in his own home across the island. "I haven't even used them in a practice fight, because I haven't had the time!"
Poor guy's real frustrated, all his power has really done is embarrass him so far.
no subject
"I think what we both need is some real hard trainin' of our own."
no subject
"Do you have any idea how you're going to train your powers?" Garrot doesn't sound too worried as he asks that, partially because he already has ideas for how to train his own. But dropping lightning? That's complicated.
no subject
no subject
"And when you feel comfortable with that, you could try to hit buoys out in the ocean?" He sounds less confident about this one, honestly. But he's trying! Because he thinks weather powers are cool, and he doesn't want Haizea to get hurt from not knowing her powers... or at all, really.
no subject
"I'll start with Far Haven though, hopefully if I can't aim the lightning it'll just hit one of those rods and not anything else, at least," she shrugs a bit. She really is hoping she has good control over the lightning, a weapon that you can't predict might as well be useless.

He blushes just a bit, it's obviously the drinks, and tosses another onion ring into his mouth. Monch cronch. "I mean, if you don't get to figure it out because of some fish, the world could end and then the fish die anyway." It seems like he's a lot more willing to encourage others than himself right now.
no subject
"A few zapped fish are definitely a small price to pay," she agrees, chomping on an onion ring. "I've always liked fried fish, anyway."
no subject
"See? You'll be fine!" But then he raises an eyebrow, glancing to the side as he processes whatever popped into his head. "Do you... think you can make it snow?" It might be too warm on the island, but if Garrot could get just a moment to remind him of back home, it'd be the best. Also, slipping monsters. But mostly he wants to look up into a gray sky and watch the snowflakes dance their way to the ground... or his face.
no subject
"I don't know," Haizea replies, a little surprised at the notion. "When I use my powers, I just kinda have to think about it. We get a lot of storms in Farida, so things like wind and rain are easy to imagine. I've been in thunderstorms too. One time I even saw a waterspout out on the ocean! But... I've never seen snow, so I'm not sure how I'd go about imaginin' it," she says, pensively.
no subject
"Okay, so, uh, try watching some videos later, Zea. But it's, uh..." He trails off for a second, trying to figure out how to describe it other than cold. "Rain makes noise, but snow is dead quiet. At night, most people are inside so it's like time stands still and your breath is like fog, and if snow falls in your eyes or your hair it's like rain, but it's..." A breath. "It's great." But then he sighs, and he's gone from poorly-articulated prose to a warm little smile.
"Once we're done with this, you're getting an all-expenses paid vacation up to Koskenkorva." The smile gets a bit bigger, it's even showing some teeth! But it's a bit sheepish. "Y'know, so you can see snow in-person." And so Garrot can see you again, Haizea. And throw a snowball at you.
no subject
She smiles warmly at his offer. "Once this is over I'll be pretty busy gettin' things in order back home, but it might be nice to travel a bit once I'm done," she says, thinking 'Assuming I make it home in the first place'. She doesn't say that out loud though, she likes his optimism about everyone making it back home and doesn't really want to bring him down right now. She'll keep him talking about snow instead, she enjoyed his earlier rambling.
"You got anywhere back home in particular you like to go when it's snowin'?"
no subject
"And if I do get cold, I can hop into my jacuzzi." Because he's incredibly wealthy, of course he has a jacuzzi. It might be more surprising that he only has one. But he shrugs, still amused. "But seriously, I got a cabin real far up north, and it's close enough we can see the lights."
Garrot's pretty sure that'll catch her interest.
no subject
"Ooh, a personal jacuzzi, aren't we fancy," she says dryly, and chomps down on another onion ring. She sets it down when he mentions the lights, though.
"The lights... are they as impressive as I've been told, or more of a let down? Like seeing a famous painting in a museum but it's actually the size of a notebook?"
no subject
"I mean, they're usually pretty gray for most people. Maybe a little green?" Some species might be able to see different color spectrums, but he'll assume the basics for Haizea. Otherwise, he'd get into a long-winded explanation on the biology of it all, and that's totally a mood kill. "But you gotta record em if you wanna see all the colors." And Garrot nods, as if he's done this many times before. Because he has. It's not like setting up a camera is hard.
"Then it's just a matter of finding something..." he raises an eyebrow, and shoots a sly look at Haizea, "...to do in the meantime." Is he suggesting that they venture off to the remote northern reaches and have a night to do whatever they want, completely by themselves? Absolutely.
no subject
At his insinuation, she raises her eyebrows. Is he trying it? She's damn sure he is, but she's gonna see if she can make him say it.
"Somethin' to do, huh? What, like build snowmen? Go sleddin'? Or maybe, we head inside, get warmed up and..." she leans forwards across the table towards him, eyes hooded and voice sultry, "...play board games?" She falls back into her seat, grinning. "Or, or we can play Twister!" she says with a laugh. She absolutely knows what she's doing, but teasing people she's down for never gets old. That said, she'll let up soon, since this northern retreat is sounding better and better by the minute.
"Unless you've got other ideas...?"
no subject
"Twister's banned." The words are matter of fact, but he's still smiling. "If I'm gonna make you scream, it won't be because I fall on you in some stupid game." He may or may not have taken someone to the hospital after a game of Twister, but it's something he's scared of either way. "No no no, Zea..." And then he leans in.
"I think we should both pack up some sparring gear, finally take the chance to trade some blows in nature's deep freezer. Then we come back, and..." The eyebrows are back to normal, but his eyes make it clear that he's insinuating exactly what she thinks. "...we lick..." So Garrot gently licks his lips, tongue curving delicately around the longest, pointiest teeth, and then his grin turns just a little predatory. "...each other's wounds."
And then he winks.
no subject
"You know, G," she starts, leaning in herself, sounding fairly nonchalant, "that all sounds like a great plan. But there's only one problem; this is only the second day, we got over a week left on the island plus whatever time we'd need back home after this all sorts out before we could take this trip. If you think I can wait that long to fight you," her words are loaded with double meaning, "then you've got another thing comin'," she finishes, then props her elbow up on the table and rests her head in her hand, tilted up to keep her eyes on him.
"We can fight right here on this island, and then we can see who's got more wounds to lick afterwards."
no subject
"Fightin's banned, too." He's still grinning, knowing full well he's being cagey. "I don't want either of us to get hurt with all these monsters around." The words are surprisingly deadpan, serious even, so it's clear how he's taking her intent. But then he quirks an eyebrow, and his free hand starts to tap his claws on the table.
"But if you want to spar, I-" He stops, mid-sentence, his eyes going wide with shock. Garrot blinks a few times, thinking, and, "No way, I think we should wait until you're healed up. No, uh- no strenuous activity for you yet!" And then he taps on his head right where her wound is. No matter what kind of blows things could come to, he doesn't want to hurt her. If they weren't trapped on this damned island, it'd be a different story. Garrot does, however, turn quite red. He's embarrassed, he's a doctor who forgot she was injured and that's so reckless and-
"Do you think Mister Torrence could heal that up the rest of the way?" He gives the bandage a scrutinizing glare, and then he looks back at her. He's still red. "I- I just don't w-want to make things worse for you!" Because she needs to survive. He can't show her the lights and have a vicious little romp in the snow if she dies here. And they can't fight, he won't let them fight until he's sure she can take a few lumps without bleeding or worse. So they'll both be a little blue for now.

“It’s alright if you’ve got cold feet, y’know, you wouldn’t be the first who’s found me to be more than they can handle,” she says airily. They’ve been playing a game of vagueries for quite a while now, and she’s not about to spoil it by clarifying whether she’s still talking about fighting or something else.
“As far as my head goes, I kinda feel like Terrence still is healin’ it? He said it just kinda works until he stops it on purpose, and honestly the wounds both kinda itch, makes me feel like there’s still some magic afoot. If they keep healin’, I might be back to normal by tomorrow,” she says, and pauses to take a sip of her drink, watching Garrot’s reaction.
