"Oh, wait--" he starts as they bring the plate to their mouth, raising a hand off of Fen to stop them. He goes very still when they just bite through it like it's nothing, watching them as they chew and swallow. There's something very protective in his gaze, a tension in his body so he can jump to help if they can't actually swallow a bunch of ceramic??

But they sure do do that, and he laughs in surprise when they put the plate down in distaste.
