Day 6: Evening Monster

Evening: Evening - Midnight

[ IRL Timeframe: December 4th - December 18th, 2019 ]

Three significant things happen when the heroes have finished their venture into the mountain.

First: Just outside the mountain cave entrance are four doors just... freely standing there. The heroes will be able to walk around them, walk past them, and generally inspect them. But they just look like normal doors. Three are marked "Bamborough", "Craydon", and "Far Haven" and sure enough if the heroes open them they'll find the marked city just past the door.

What?

The fourth door is marked "Guest List" and has the names of all the heroes scrawled down below it. Six had said everyone was invited, after all.

Second: The Wizard and Protector's fight has ended, but social media is losing their collective mind over the crater the two had left behind. A significant part of the beach is now gone, filled in with water in the empty space the battle left behind. How did it end? Who won? Is it all over?

Third: Six's show has started. Luka's princess senses will point him straight to the door with the guest list on it, and he'll know he's meant to enter. Courtesy of some time nonsense, even if the heroes take their time entering from the mountain-side of the door... they'll all arrive at the same time in the monster space. They won't all arrive back on the mountain at the same time, though, instead they'll go back at the end in the order they went through in. First in, first out, after a shared same-time-Six-showdown fight.

But is it a fight?

• 5:00pm Mountain, General Post: Any character interactions atop the mountain or in any of the towns before the heroes go to face Six can be added here. Five and Ten both say they won't be joining the heroes to watch the show, they weren't invited.


• 5:30pm Onward: Monster Theatre: When the heroes arrive in Six's space, they'll be surprised to see that it's set up very much like a movie theatre. There are exactly enough plush, reclining chairs for all the heroes to have one each. At the front of the room is a big red curtain that's down, with a sign over it stating "Take your seats, the show will be starting soon!"

Six takes a surprised step back from Luka. Um. Um!

"Uh." He hesitates. "'Yay!'? I'm defeated?"

As far as performances go, it'd barely be worth a 2 out of 10.

"... Can I show it to the Wizard?" He sounds a little more certain as he asks that. Maybe she'd get a laugh out of it?

"That's more like it." Luka takes a moment to think before he gives his next reply.

"Sure. I don't imagine she'd take it as seriously as he would, anyway." Luka smiles. "If I'd known she'd be watching I would have put on more of a show."

Six gives a pleased 'yes!' under his breath and his response to Luka's answer comes immediately:

"You can show her in person later, she loves live shows. I showed her some of this one a few days ago!"

"Wait, she's already seen this? This just now?" Luka squints. "Is that a thing you can do? Time travel?"

The concept has consumed Luka's thoughts completely. He might have mentioned how exclusive his 'live shows' are, and that the Wizard wouldn't get one so easily otherwise.

Six laughs, what. Luka, what kind of question was that!

"What? No, I showed her after Four finished their show. Two nights ago. She gave me the thumbs up to show all of you!" He seems deeply pleased to share that information.

[eutychia]

"Oh, so, like a rehearsal? Without all of us participating, then. Must have been a bit of a difference experience that way." He's somewhat disappointed that Six isn't actually capable of time travel shenanigans.

"Was she the one who suggested the Protector's dialogue?"

[wizardseason]

"Exactly!" He answers, gleeful that Luka figured out exactly what he'd done. But also he, too, wishes he could time travel. But when Luka asks where the Protector's dialogue came from, he immediately gives a 'Bzzzt!' sound as he answers:

"Absolutely not, this whole show was mine!"

"I'm sure she could have written a stellar rendition of him, too, though." Luka says with a laugh. "I'd like to see her version of the play."

He steps over the puppet carefully and moves closer to Six.

"Now, are you about done tying us all up for tonight?"

Six makes an offended sound.

"My version would still be better than hers--" He says, defensively, before answering Luka's other question.

"But my show's done, it's over." He confirms.

"Well then." Luka says, dusting his hands. "Good show. Will I be seeing you around later? Figuratively?"

[wizardseason]

Six makes a face that Luka definitely doesn't see, but his confusion and apprehension are obvious in his voice.

"Uh. Yeah. Figuratively." He answers. This was weird, right?

This was weird.

"The exit is the door you came in on?" He offers, hoping Luka doesn't ask to do something ridiculous... like do the show over again. He's so off balance, this interaction wasn't at all what he expected and this ending wasn't as showy as he thought.

How had Four kept their cool the whole time?

Maybe it wasn't as showy, but it's beneficial for Six in the long run that his show didn't end like Four's did.

"You think I remember where that was?" Luka laughs. "A lot has happened since we came in here, you know."

[wizardseason]

"Uh." Six takes a moment before comprehending what Luka's implying.

"Do you." He scrunches up his face, trying to figure out what to say...

"Want me to help you to the door?" He offers, very clearly hesitant about the offer. Is this what was expected??

[eutychia]

"If you would be so kind." Luka can't help but grin deviously at Six. Something about the monster's utter bafflement with him gave Luka a strange sense of satisfaction. "If not... well, that wouldn't be very polite. But I could probably wrangle one of those Knights into doing the job."

He holds a hand out in anticipation.

Six's brain goes blank here as Luka offers a hand and asks for exactly what Six was baffled by being asked.

"I-- okay?" He answers, taking Luka's hand in both of his. With great confusion, he guides the Princess towards the door.

"I don't know how to ask this--" He sounds very confused, slowing as they near the door.

"Why can't you see?" If there's an etiquette to this, he doesn't know it. But he also doesn't know why Luka can't see. Everyone he knows can see.

Sorry Luka, at least the question sounds innocent rather than malicious.

For a moment, Luka is distracted trying to figure out the hand situation. It wasn't typically how people took his arm, but he figured maybe Six was just inexperienced with this sort of thing. He hasn't come to the realization yet that Six might have more than two arms, despite him having referenced it that morning.

Luka's still feeling quite pleased with himself as the monster leads him to the exit, but then Six asks a question he hadn't expected.

"Oh, it's been awhile since anyone's asked me that." Most people who were aware of who Luka was knew the story by now. It was something that was simply unavoidable. Everyone wanted to know how and why. "When I was young I witnessed a magic-related explosion that burned my eyes. That's why I can't see."

That was the abridged version. Luka figures that a monster wouldn't be terribly interested in all the finer details of the incident.

Six has never guided someone by the hand before! He doesn't know the etiquette or the expectations. But as it stands, he hopes this is enough. He's taken in by the story Luka tells, blinking and silently taking it in as he explains it.

"Oh." He follows, not sure how to respond and his voice definitely reflects that.

"That's bad." He awkwardly adds, flustering as he tries to figure out what else to say. So instead he says the most uninformed thing he possibly can:

"Can you get new eyes?"

...

Smooth, Six.

[eutychia]

"New eyes?" Luka laughs. "I probably could. I'm sure someone's developed synthetic ones, or someone's got some magic that would heal them or something, but that's not anything I'm interested in doing. I've been blind nearly my whole life, it would be weird to suddenly... not be, you know?"

[wizardseason]

Six makes a "Mmhmm" sound when Luka says that someone's developed synthetic ones. Absolutely, that's absolutely true. He's about to comment about the magic when Luka says that he wasn't interested?

"Oh." He immediately states, blinking and making a soft sound of confusion before he continues.

"I think that makes sense. Um." He pauses, shifting so he can open the door and allow a soft breeze to blow past them both.

"As long as you're happy." He hopes that's an okay thing to say.

Of course its an okay thing to say.

"I'm very happy." Luka replies, acknowledging the sound of the door opening as a signal of their imminent departure. "I'll be even happier when this whole things over. Hopefully you will be, too."

[wizardseason]

"I hope it ends okay." He answers, definitely sounding worried.

"I'll be happy if it ends good." He clarifies, glad at least that Luka's happy? Are they enemies? Or friends? Or... just. are. He didn't know.

He was more confused than anything.
