Day 6: Evening Monster

Evening: Evening - Midnight

[ IRL Timeframe: December 4th - December 18th, 2019 ]

Three significant things happen when the heroes have finished their venture into the mountain.

First: Just outside the mountain cave entrance are four doors just... freely standing there. The heroes will be able to walk around them, walk past them, and generally inspect them. But they just look like normal doors. Three are marked "Bamborough", "Craydon", and "Far Haven" and sure enough if the heroes open them they'll find the marked city just past the door.

What?

The fourth door is marked "Guest List" and has the names of all the heroes scrawled down below it. Six had said everyone was invited, after all.

Second: The Wizard and Protector's fight has ended, but social media is losing their collective mind over the crater the two had left behind. A significant part of the beach is now gone, filled in with water in the empty space the battle left behind. How did it end? Who won? Is it all over?

Third: Six's show has started. Luka's princess senses will point him straight to the door with the guest list on it, and he'll know he's meant to enter. Courtesy of some time nonsense, even if the heroes take their time entering from the mountain-side of the door... they'll all arrive at the same time in the monster space. They won't all arrive back on the mountain at the same time, though, instead they'll go back at the end in the order they went through in. First in, first out, after a shared same-time-Six-showdown fight.

But is it a fight?

• 5:00pm Mountain, General Post: Any character interactions atop the mountain or in any of the towns before the heroes go to face Six can be added here. Five and Ten both say they won't be joining the heroes to watch the show, they weren't invited.


• 5:30pm Onward: Monster Theatre: When the heroes arrive in Six's space, they'll be surprised to see that it's set up very much like a movie theatre. There are exactly enough plush, reclining chairs for all the heroes to have one each. At the front of the room is a big red curtain that's down, with a sign over it stating "Take your seats, the show will be starting soon!"

He frowns deeply. He doesn't have a problem killing an animal that's hurting people, but Six being so vague makes him feel incredibly uncertain. If Six is trying to convince Gyre not to show this monster mercy, he's doing a very bad job of it.

"If we can trap them someplace safe, then they won't have to die."

"You can't trap them." Six counters immediately, looking worried still. If Gyre needs convincing in some way, he should say it. Because right now Six is just trying to tell him what's up.

"They can teleport."

"Hm..." he murmurs, glancing downwards. He rubs his chin lightly, clearly trying to figure out some way to not kill another one of these people. But if they're just going to brutally murder people then... ugh. He can't think about this right now, turning his mind to other things instead. If Six has this information, then he should definitely share it with everyone, he thinks.

"If all of you, you monsters, warned everyone what was coming, then you might able to convince the knights that we're on the same side."

"I..." Six starts to explain, looking worried as he wrings his hands together.

"We can't always share. Only sometimes. You know the Protector can kill us, right?" He explains, looking Gyre over for any sign of dismissal.

He doesn't look dismissive at all! He takes the information in, chewing his lip as he tries to figure a way around it. It feels so close. It feels like they're only a couple steps away from everyone working together, but he can't let the monsters get hurt just for an easier alliance.

"What are the limitations? Could you announce it now? While we're all here?"

[wizardseason]

Six looks thoughtful for several moments as Gyre asks that question, considering it to himself...

"He can't see me here..." He mutters to himself before seeming to have a realization.

"HEY! Everyone!" He shouts out, raising his hands in the air and looking around Gyre.

"Seven is dangerous! Really really dangerous! You have to fight and win!" He says, leaving his hands in the air for a moment before deflating and looking back at Gyre.

"Was that okay?"

Gyre................ grins up at him, nodding when he asks for confirmation.

"Yeah, it's something. It'll help us prepare for them," he says, beginning to look thoughtful again. "Are you only limited when he can see you? Is it just because he can come after you?"

[wizardseason]

Six gets a big stupid smile when Gyre grins at him.

"Yeah, don't die. And yeah, I don't want to die so I don't want to be where he can see me or any of us."

[sustainer]

"Mmm," he hums softly, glancing around the room at all of them. The more they plan together, the more dangerous it's going to get for them. He has to know.

"Where are we safe to talk? Safe from him, I mean."

[wizardseason]

Six blinks at Gyre. From what he'd heard...

"Don't you know? Twelve's garden." He answers, looking confused. Shouldn't Gyre know this? He was there.

[sustainer]

"Ah..." he says, pursing his lips for a beat. "I don't know how to get there. There isn't anywhere else?"

[wizardseason]

"You..." Six starts to answer, but then scrunches up his face.

"Uh." He looks... fairly perplexed for a moment.

"Ask Ten?"

[sustainer]

Wait.

"You don't know how to get there?" he asks, sounding just as perplexed as Six looks honestly. Of all the answers he expected, this was not one of them.

[wizardseason]

Six looks visibly uncomfortable here as Gyre asks that question.

"I know how I can get there." He starts, transitioning into a shrug.

"I don't know if you can do the same."

[sustainer]

"How do you get there?" he asks automatically, leaning forward in pure curiosity. He's clearly not going to drop this unless Six asks him to stop.

"Are you all there usually?"

[wizardseason]

Six's face scrunches further and he looks further concerned before he gives his answer.

"I just ask Eight." He says, pausing before he shakes his head.

"Only a few of us. Everyone... has their own things to do."

[sustainer]

"Hm..." he murmurs, glancing down at his hands for a second. "What kind of things? Even Seven?"

He pauses there, remembering that uh phones exist. He pulls his out of his pocket, staring at the screen for a second before he asks, entirely unsure, "Could I talk to Eight? Do they have a phone?"

[wizardseason]

"Seven never joins us." He answers, sounding more sad than anything.

"Eight has a phone but... I don't know. You could talk to Ten...?" He offers, pulling his own little nokia-tier flip phone out. There's a little cowboy hat on the top of its antenna.

[sustainer]

"Where do they stay? Are they alone?" he asks, his tone going equally sad. He knows Six wants him to just fight them, but so far they sound more upsetting then dangerous to him. Minus the saw with legs thing anyway.

"Is Ten in charge of you all?" He doesn't understand why Ten could give him Eight's number but Six couldn't!

"No one knows. We've looked. They just appear, every year, on the seventh day." He shakes his head, really hoping Gyre isn't going to say he doesn't want to fight Seven here.

"No, Twelve-- Uh. Ten just likes to talk to everyone."

[sustainer]

I mean Gyre won't say out loud that he doesn't want to fight them, but the idea of one of these monsters being alienated even from this tiny group of them is nightmarish to him. If they die every year then they're still barely a child too. The idea of fighting them fills him with this intense dread, and he's still not entirely sure what to do.

"Does he? He didn't talk at all the first time I met him," he says curiously, a question there in his voice. "Were you going to say something about Twelve?"

[wizardseason]

"Oh." He pauses, concerned.

"He said he talked to you?" He looks confused, before shifting to that other comment and--

"No, I-- I didn't say anything."

[sustainer]

"Oh, I... yes, he's talked to me now. I first met him a few days ago, and he just pointed at me." He reaches up and rubs at his throat, remembering Ten pointing at it like he wanted to know something about it.

"Are you sure?" he asks, leaning towards Six an arching an eyebrow. You're not fooling him, little buddy.

Six makes another face. He guesses that counted as talking?

But when Gyre presses him, he takes a step back.

"She wouldn't be happy if I said anything for her."

[sustainer]

Gyre immediately backs off when Six steps away, holding his hands up to pacify him. He looks quite apologetic, smiling awkwardly.

"That's fine. I didn't mean to pressure you," he says, hoping that Six won't hold it against him. He had meant it as a tease, but clearly it hadn't been taken that way.
