Day 9: Morning
Morning: 6:00am - 12:00noon
[ IRL Timeframe: June 14th - Onward, 2020 ]When your characters check their phones, clocks, calendars, or any other timekeeping implement they'll find that the year is 00 AW, forty years before the present day. The year before the Wizard's first game was held, the year before it came down to only two knights and the Princess facing off against the Wizard. It was before all of it.
Everywhere your characters go, there are no people. Their devices will not connect to the internet outside of the island, their companions will not appear, the Wizard and Monsters will not answer, but they can text each other without difficulty.
Outside, the heroes will not be greeted with the sight of the sky from Day 3. The sky lacks the massive vortex over the center of the mountain. Honestly, it all looks fairly serene. The only thing that seems amiss is the rumbling of the ground, the constant feeling of an ongoing earthquake. There are no fractures in the ground yet, though, no splintering of the planet.
Because nothing has happened yet.
The Weather
- Stillness.
- 48°F
- No wind.
Prompts:
- 6:00am The Arrival, All Cities: Gyre, Olivia, and Luka arrive flat on the ground. They wake on their backs, facing up to the stars, just outside of something that has never been on the island ever before.
They're at the top of the mountain, right beside where the mysterious doors were in the current day. But right now there's a wide-open metallic stairwell. It looks unnatural, like someone copy-pasted it into place. From beneath, there's a blue glow and steam rising up from below.
Guess it's time to wake up, make a plan, and walk downstairs?- ?:00am, Unknown Location: This post will consist of one single long thread that progresses through the plot for this post. As discoveries are made, additional information will be uncovered.

"It is. You can defy him. If you really want to," he says, tilting his head very slightly in their direction. "It may be hard, but I've seen you do it before." He smiles faintly as he says it, tilting his head gently towards them. He trusts them! He wants them to do the right thing here!
no subject
"What you're saying doesn't make sense." They answer, watching him as he's so sure of himself.
"He won't stop trying to complete the spell." The finally add, after another long pause. All they have are facts right now.
no subject
"But it's going to hurt people. Lots of people. Everyone is trying to stop it, now that we know. Your help is, ah..." His face scrunches slightly as he tries to find the word. "Vital. It's vital."
no subject
Or he was an elaborate liar. They want to rule that out. They can't believe or dismiss what he has to say without ruling that out.
"Provide me a fact that only someone from the future would be able to know." They demand, watching him for how he'll react to the demand.
no subject
"You..." he starts after a few moments, pausing to consider his words again. "The moon, that one," he points upwards, "it gets destroyed soon. The people here will blame you for it. Ah, but I don't know if you are the one who did it or not. We haven't talked about it." He trails off again, brow furrowing as he tries to find something more concrete then that.
"I-I've been on your ship. The one that answers questions. I know you are a, a Tac-tactical, something. Tactical, unit? And he belongs to a Query group." He looks briefly lost, searching their face for confirmation. "Is that right?"
no subject
The moon could have been a made up story. The 'ship' was generic enough to get away with. Picking one word from their designation could've been a coincidence, but he picked one from each of their designations.
It was either the most absurd 0.001% luck, or there was truth here. They don't make any face to acknowledge his words.
"Why do you know that?" They probe, trying to force him to spill more details. Seems like they believe you, Gyre!
no subject
"Are you able to talk about everything now? Your... your purpose, I mean?"
no subject
Fortunately he asks a question she does have the answer to:
"I am not authorized to provide information to any non-crew individuals, no matter the circumstances, without the express approval of my superior." They answer, very much sounding like that was a premade answer that could be re-played as needed.
Because they'd used it earlier today, multiple times. But a question is nagging on their mind--
"Non-crew are not permitted entry to either ship." They state matter-of-factly, as if that would make what Gyre said untrue.
no subject
"The monsters are... these crystals, I think. We're working together, and you let us see the ball to help answer questions." He purses his lips, murmuring, "I just have more questions now though."
And then he straightens all at once, smirking, "That means we're crew, right? Since we saw the ship."
no subject
"You are not crew." They answer immediately, automatically, their eyes settling intensely on Gyre.
"It was only the two of us." They clarify, before their gaze shifts to the side where Gyre was looking a moment before. Was there something there?
"Ask your questions." They put the spotlight back on him, not ready to grapple with the reality that he'd been inside the ship.
no subject
"You said..." he starts, shaking his head quickly. If they're offering, he's going to take them up on that offer. "My questions are about you. And him. What are you... doing?" That seems easy enough, right? It'll certainly help him feel out the boundaries around what they can say.
no subject
They stare at him as they process his question for a few moments, then they shake their head.
"I am finishing what we started. Saving the planet. By collecting and removing these crystals." They answer, not picking up that he's testing his boundaries.
