Day 2: Evening
Evening: 5:00pm - Midnight
[ IRL Timeframe: April 14th - April 22nd, 2019 ]Unfortunately for everyone, the second day's events are far less rewarding than the first day's. Now that things are starting to get real, there are consequences for what's taken place. Both monsters caused a bit of damage and a mess with their departure, but the locals on the island are trying to stay positive. Sometimes things just get messy, they've dealt with this for forty years it's fine.
But the heroes are sure to have a lot on their mind. Injuries mean it's less of a game and more likely to sink in as real. How will your hero cope tonight? The Princess and her two knights are due for a rendezvous with the Protector and, on the other hand, there are some evil-allured knights due for some private time with the Wizard. What will come of that?
The Weather
- Still.
- 61°F / 16°C
- An eerie calm has fallen over the island.
Prompts:
- 05:00pm Clean-up Crews: Both Bamborough and Craydon were left with big neon-green splashes of blood that aren't going to just wash off. Numerous locals in both areas are hard at work cleaning up after the second monsters, scrubbing at buildings and assessing the damage to the island. In Bamborough, the locals are hard at work trying to salvage the damage to the boardwalk or put up caution tape around the destroyed areas. Is your hero lending a hand in all this? Is someone else helping? Bond over picking up the pieces, but hey... it could be worse, right?
- 5:30pm, Craydon: Despite being largely untouched by the monster's arrival, the citizens of Craydon have dropped by the train station to check in on the heroes. Anyone in the area will be given a small care package of items and offered a free coupon for any restaurant in the area. Will your hero go alone and run into someone who was craving the same food they were, or will they team up with their fellow heroes to drop by a restaurant together? Everyone needs to unwind, after all!
- 5:30pm, Bamborough: Despite the boardwalk damage, the Bamborough oceanfront diner is offering 'monster margaritas' tonight. They're set up as an open-air bar tonight, doors and windows open to let in the cool sea air. Every hero gets their first monster margarita free if they can stomach the bright green color, and they've got deep fried bar foods for half off. Come in, indulge, have a drink to get your mind off of the events of the day, heroes!
- 5:30pm, Far Haven: The Far Haven clinic has advertised that its doors are open to any hero injured, or just in need of a check-up, for the rest of the evening. They want to check in on all the heroes and make sure they're okay. Did your hero come alone and run into someone here? Or did they come together to get stitched up? Or maybe they just need to be reassured that everything will be okay.
- 8:30pm, 9:05pm, 9:40pm, Train station(s): As always, Social media is incredibly quick to report Wizard appearances. At 8:00pm they report that the Wizard is waiting for the train in Bamborough station. She does, in fact, board the train at 8:30pm and they start theorizing where her destination is. Social media points out that her train will be arriving in Craydon at 9:05pm, then it will get to Far Haven by 9:40pm. If a hero tries to find her when the train arrives back in the Bamborough station at 10:15pm, though, the train will be empty. Where will your hero find her? Bamborough between 8 and 8:30pm? On the train in Craydon at 9:05pm? Or when she disembarks in Far Haven at 9:40pm?

Wearing a new one piece, a black vest and shorts, she busts into the diner and orders all of the onion rings they have. Then she stops the waiter and reiterates she wants all of the onion rings they have. She knows what she’s about, son.
She’ll take the free monster margarita, but she’s not about to pound that sucker down. While she’s wearing her hair down tonight to obscure it, her head is still wrapped in a layer of bandages that go over her forehead and around and it’s an annoying reminder of her carelessness in the fight earlier.
no subject
But he's not exactly stealthy, and he makes sure to stop her waiter to inform them that "The blue haired woman's tab should be added to mine. Yeah, more for the Murtakhor/Hamilton bill." She may likely be able to hear him before he slides into the seat next to her. His pants are still splattered with blood, and his tanktop is nowhere to be seen. It's not like anyone will stop him from walking around shirtless, he's a Knight!
"How are you feeling? Did it work?" Garrot has implemented his ultimate attack, Death By One Thousand Probing Personal Wellness Questions. His smile seems forced, and his eyes keep darting towards those bandages. "Are you okay?"
no subject
"Pretty sure it did, check it out," she says and pulls the bandage on her arm back. There's a visible scab, but it's knitted together nicely, looks like it's at least two weeks into healing. "I don't think that one will scar, but I'm kinda hopin' this one will," she gestures to her bandaged head. "With any luck it'll look cool, and if it don't then I guess I'll just start growin' my sidecut out? Maybe see about shifting it to the other side..." she trails off, musing on what she can do with her hair. If she makes it back her hair stylist will have something to say about it, at least.
"So yeah, I'm pretty okay. Don't think there's any lasting harm to anything but my pride," she says, laughing only a little bit bitterly.
no subject
"You can always cover it with a tattoo if you're embarrassed!" He's playful, trying to get a laugh out of her, because that's better medicine than magic. And then he gestures towards his, well, entire upper body. Very tattooed. It's a real thing people do after surgeries, and a side-of-the-head tattoo doesn't sound totally off-brand for Haizea.
But then Garrot pauses for a moment, words on the tip of his tongue. He wants to say she's still able to fight, still alive, and that's what matters, but he knows they both know that. He can pick up enough on that bitterness and his pride is plenty wounded with how little he helped during the fight itself, so he can empathize.
"Fuck your pride, scars are hot." Garrot's chosen to build her up instead, waggling an eyebrow suggestively before crossing his arms in front of his spot on their table. Between his elbows and wrists are a surprising amount of faded nicks and cuts. He's complimenting himself as much as Haizea, let's be honest.
no subject
She sighs. “The pride issue, it’s less ‘bout gettin’ hurt and more ‘bout gettin’ hurt so bad so early. That was only monster number two and I was careless enough to get hurt so bad that I needed magic goddamn healin’! Hell, Seth even took the healin’ better than me, the boy didn’t wake up in a hospital room like I did after I guess passin’ out in front of you all?!” She’s frustrated now and runs a hand through her hair. She groans a little before breathing out heavy through her nose to calm herself down.
Finally she does manage to crack a smile. “You’re right, though. Scars are hot.” She reaches her hands out tentatively towards his arms, eventually hovering over a noticeable one on his right forearm. While she doesn’t ask ‘May I?’, the question is there.
no subject
"If Seth had a head lac like that, we both know he'd have conked out on the spot." He chuckles, notsomuch at the boy's expense but more to show how hardcore Haizea is. "Plus, Rory tripped and fell on her face yesterday, and," a moment of realization strikes, "we should get her to visit Mr. Torrence too. Point is, you're doing fine!."
But then Garrot sighs, his eyes redirecting to stare at the table. "You dropped fuckin' lightning, so you did a hell of a lot more today than I did."
no subject
"I dropped lightning by accident," she laughs a little. "I didn't even know I could do that and the effort nearly knocked me out. I'm lucky you showed up and that Seth was able to drag it into the ocean, I would've been completely open to any counterattack otherwise." She clenches a fist and opens it a few times. She wants to figure out how to practice with her lighting, but it's more destructive than her other powers and she doesn't want to accidentally hurt anyone with it.
no subject
"You still dropped the lightning, Zea." He breathes out quickly, and then keeps going. "You're still doing damage. You're still alive, so what's it matter?!" It's only then that he realizes he was raising his voice a little, though it wasn't obvious from the din of the the crowds around them. So he lets go, turning a little red in the face. He didn't even ask if that was okay, and-
"All I did was walk in after the fact and clean up." He rolls his eyes, just as displeased with his progress so far. "With Terrence's healing, we don't even need me around!" Garrot is, of course, forgetting his many contributions already. It looks like they're both having some trouble rising to the heroic occasion!
no subject
"Do you think the only value you have is in being a doctor? You think just 'cause someone else can heal, you ain't needed? You're wrong. Terrence may be able to make bodies heal fast but I bet he can't set a bone, or diagnose an illness, or do that- that thing where doctors put a tube in your throat so you can breathe?" She's reaching the limits of her very vague medical knowledge.
"And outside that, you're strong. I remember you in the ring, you were like a force of nature. You're kind, you're funny, you're reliable, normally you're a great dresser," she pauses and gestures to all of him, Garrot why haven't you changed out of your monster blood soaked clothes!!, "and while I wish none of us had to be here for this bullshit game, I feel better knowing you're here."
She's a little embarrassed by saying all that, and while she doesn't easily blush, she does seem to be looking away from him more than is necessary. Where are those onion rings! She would like a distraction, please!!
no subject
"The problem is that we're getting upstaged by people who have no idea what the fuck they're doing, and they're like half my age." He didn't want to be rude and guess her age, especially because she's elven enough he'd be very, very wrong. "We know what we're doing, we're teaching them, and they're already surpassing the masters!" Garrot actually sounds a little angry about that. Seriously, what a buncha upstart little badasses!
"So we just have to, y'know," a plate of onion rings arrives, the first of a functionally infinite amount, and there are more on a cart nearby, "kick some ass!" Garrot takes a moment to snatch an onion ring and inhale it. "As soon as a monster isn't constantly running away or, like, sixty feet in the air, we're gonna destroy it!"
no subject
“The problem is these powers,” she says, then twirls a finger in the air, stirring up a slight breeze that she sends over to Garrot to ruffle his hair. “They can be the great equalizer, huh? Aside from us and Zafika and maybe Gyre, though I haven’t seen him fight yet, none of them would be able to do the amount of damage we do normally. But Gail killed the first one ‘cause of his magic speed and Seth got the second one ‘cause of his magic wires. I think...” she trails off, stirring her drink pensively for a moment, “I think both of us are probably bein’ too hard on ourselves. We’re set in our ways and think we know how shit works, but magic like this means we know nothin’, not really.”
When the onion rings appear she digs the fuck in, at least three disappear down her gullet in about 30 seconds. “The moment we get a monster that fights us with fists, I think we’ll both be able to really show these kids what we can do,” she says, and grabs another onion ring, biting into it just a bit aggressively.
no subject
"I mean, I really wouldn't wanna be on the other end of two of me!" And then both of the Garrots consume another pair delicious fried ellipses. The newcomer immediately leans in towards the middle of the table, looking distraught.
"It doesn't feel like I'm eating..." The words are almost whined out, and his ears start to comically droop. Garrot Prime follows suit, similarly disheartened by the occurrence. Neither is aware that Haizea might not be Mentally Prepared for this entire situation, because this is just Murtakhor Business As Usual now.
no subject
“Y’all oughta give people a warnin’ when you pull this shit!” she shoves the onion ring into her mouth then, thinking about what the secondary Garrot said. “Do you not taste the onion ring, or do you just not feel like it’s fillin’ you up?”

He was about to head on right over...buuuuttt he saw Garrot got to her first and...he didn't want to deal with his and Garrot's...disagreements, tonight, nope, too tired for that. (At least directly with Garrot himself.)
So with a small, quiet, annoyed sigh, he sat back down and just...waited for Garrot to be done. And waited...and waited...this was actually kind of awkward just staring at them form the distance most of the time, though he did manage to not stare the entire time...look he just wanted to grab his chance when he got it.
And then finally Garrot leaves, and Seth books it to Haizea while steering clear of the resident doctor, plopping himself down next to her, phone already in hand, and being typed into.
"Are you okay?"
no subject
"I'm good! My arm is basically good as new, got a scab that looks like it'll fall off soon. My head might need a little more time but it's fine too. How're your hands holding up?"
no subject
"I'm glad. They're all healed up, it's like I didn't hurt them in the first place." He paused for a bit, before continuing to type with a silent chuckle:"I'm guessing the healing left you too incredibly hungry, probably more than me even, and I wasn't really full until my second meal here."
no subject
"Being hungry is a better side effect than passing out, at least."
no subject
Cronch. Onion rings are good. Good thing he can type with just one hand though, he doesn't want his phone screen all greasy.
"Oh, definitely. I didn't pass out thankfully but after I'd cleaned myself up and eaten for the first time, I conked out for several hours."
no subject
“Better than passin’ out immediately like I did, I don’t even remember how I got to the hospital. And now I’m so hungry I can barely stand it! Still,” she pauses for another onion ring, “I’m glad Terrence was there, it would’ve sucked to have to deal with these things healin’ over the next few weeks. Fightin’ these monsters is tough enough as it is!”
no subject
"Oh, yeah, we definitely got lucky with getting someone with a power that has healing applications. I wasn't really sure where he took you off to but Garrot was the one to carry you there...uh...two Garrots?"
no subject
She shakes it off and eats another onion ring to distract herself. “Anyway, do you know what happened to the second monster? I assume the others must have gotten it, but I hope none of them got hurt too.”
no subject

no subject
"Yeah it'd be good to get something more permanent to protect them I guess...though mostly I think I hurt myself because I...think I panicked and didn't really think about the wounds that would result from pulling with my non gloved hand...I don't really remember much clearly, what happened after it tried to turn you into a pincushion is pretty hazy. My fingers I know I hurt because I retracted my wires way too fast considering the weigth they were pulling."
no subject
She sounds disappointed in herself, but she shakes it off shortly. No use in beating herself up too much, all she can do is be better next time.
