Welcome to the Test Drive! In this post, you'll be able to interact with others to get a feeling for your character. All threads below will be considered non-canon unless otherwise stated. Multiple different scenarios are available, you are welcome to post multiple comments with different scenarios each or post one single comment containing different scenarios.

o p t i o n s 01 • AWAKENING. Your character has just woken up, or turned a corner, or blinked and now their animal companion has joined them. How do they react? What were they doing beforehand? How are they going to handle the news that they're a knight now? For this thread, you'll be threading with your animal companion. (You must provide the thread-start for this option)
02 • ON THE PLANE. You were promised a seat on a plane out to the island but it looks like you and another Knight (or the Princess) were double-booked! Chat it up with your fellow fighter, commentary from your animal companions is optional.
03 • THE ISLAND. You've just landed and you're somewhere on the island. One of your fellow companions is nearby and they sure do look like they've just landed with all their luggage still in tow. Or they're already wearing an Island tourism shirt. Or who even knows, but you're both here!
04 • COFFEE SHOP. All you wanted was a Latte, or a Frappuccino, to consider why you're here on the island and what you were going to do until the first monster showed up... Instead the barista called for "Drink for the Knight" or "Drink for the Princess" oh shit, but this isn't your drink! Or maybe it is your drink but someone else is there! Why would two knights have gone for coffee at the same time? Or did you get confused for or with the Princess? Come on, man, there are only so many unicorn frappes in the world.
05 • DISCOMFORT. Your room is an oven. Either that or a freezer. Or maybe this bed is just really uncomfortable? Who knows why you can't get to sleep, it feels like it could be anything. Why even bother trying? Maybe someone else can preoccupy you until you feel tired enough to ignore your discomfort. Go for a walk, go outside, looks like you're not alone in your discomfort. New island housing is wild!
06 • PENSIVE. Something's on your mind, and no matter how hard you try to focus elsewhere, it's just not going to work. Your body may be tired, but your mind is incredibly busy and it's virtually impossible to get to sleep. First night on the island is rough. Surely, talking it out with someone else will help?
07 • BEACH EPISODE. You're on an island!! There's beaches everywhere, there are pools on every street. Endless water opportunities, chances to fool around and relax before things get serious. You're not the only good guy to have had this thought! What are you both up to?
08 • LOCAL FOOD. You've been dying to eat X, a dish that you've seen numerous other knights eat on TV. Now YOU'RE a knight (or the princess) and you're eating it yourself, there are kids at home that'll be excited to eat this food because they saw you eating it! You might even get a commercial spot to advertise this food when you get home. Awesome! Except someone else is here, what if they get the commercial spot? Huh.
09 • DENNY'S. It's 3am and you've arrived at a Denny's. You're almost certain that there's not a Denny's on the island and you're not even sure you walked in here? But it is what it is and the server is already bringing you a menu and taking your drink order as one of your fellow allies slips into the booth across from you. Have you met them before, or are they new to you? Your animal companion is here, too, and they're ordering something as well.

"No problem. I was wondering why my order had a cookie on it, and when I heard you shout I...kind of figured we had our orders mized up. I'm not too much for fancy drinks either...I don't get out much but, I know Marion would tear me a new one if I didn't try one out now that I'm actually outside for once...and likely will be for the foreseeable future..." Even with the monotone voice from his phone and how blank Seth's face was, he still managed to look a bit dejected at the idea of being outside.
But god that voice really didn't fit him. Especially how deep it was did not at all match the thin and lanky barely 6 foot Seth.

"I mean, think of it this way. You're on a vacation, so live it up!" And then Garrot lets out a wistful laugh as he remembered his younger days. Wild times. His fingers, meanwhile, are click-clacking away on his phone screen. "Seriously, might as well shotgun that whole drink, the sugar will probably let you run laps around the island."
And then his phone lets out an angry, accusatory tone: Dammit, DAAAAAD! Then it replays, Dam- Dam- Dammit, DAAAAAD! It... seems like it's a message notification sound. For now, Garrot's temporarily ignoring that shouting soundbite, and looking expectantly at Seth since, well, it would be rude to ignore someone standing right there.

"I'm unfortunately here for a vacation. You're a Knight right? Well...I'm here because of that too."
Though even with his blank expression he managed to look a bit dejected.

There's really only one way to parse that remark: this kid is a Knight. If they were just family along for the ride, it wouldn't just be one drink on the order. And, of course, there'd probably be another person nearby them. So... that's awkward and sad. Unless the family is back home? No easy way to ask that or to roll with an uncomfortable answer, so... Garrot just takes a bite from the cookie and then a loud, dramatic quantity of sugary nonsense from his beverage.
"...Damn, that kid knows how to get a sugar buzz." The remark is mostly to himself, but then his attention snaps to Seth as Garrot starts to smile. "And you! That's a problem for future you, because right now you've got a pile of unicorn dust and sugary rainbows in your hand. You're gonna drink it, riiiight?"
And then he glares at Seth, still smiling like a parent trying to get a child to eat their vegetables. Trying the drink might get 'em to smile, and that's really all they can hope for right now. The trials of the future are gonna be... one crazy day at a time.

And Seth just. Absolute stares. Blankly. Because that is pretty much the last response they expected.
And the absurdity of it all is just enough for Seth to do just a bit better than smile, he actually starts laughing, even if it's just the motions of it as there is no real sound.
And when he finally stops laughing he looks practically astonished before his lips briefly quirk into a small smile though it return to his usual blank expression before long as he takes a sip of his drink.

Laughter. Or, well, every bit of it but the voice. Kinda creepy looking, seeing silent laughter. Plus there was a smile and a sip from the sugar-swill? Slam dunk, honestly!
"So, how is it?" His tone and face are expectant, almost as if he'd whipped up the drink for a close friend. Garrot figures that since the kid can't talk, he could at least show more emotions. "Did it blow your mind? Do you... do you even have a sweet tooth?"

Seth types in his phone again as he keeps sipping, though unfortunately for Garrot's hopes his face has gone back to remaining blank. Sorry Garrot this kid can barely emote.
"It's really good. I actually love sweet stuff. I'd say this is pretty worth dealing with the scent of coffee here."

"Huh, well..." Garrot mulls something over for a moment, before just kind of shrugging. "You'd probably hate bars then. Alcohol tends to smell worse and sometimes people mix it with coffee." He won't mention the fact that they're usually pretty loud and that drunk people happen, or, well. The more he thinks about it the more he might actually mention those things.
"...You might just wanna find a smoothie shop, though."

Seth momentarily makes a face at the idea of mixing alcohol and coffee before he types in response.
"I know what bars are like and I definetely would never step foot in one. And...well...I don't really go out much...I like to stay home... it's safe there."

"But hey, think of it this way." He's smiling, and even gives his compatriot a thumbs-up! "Once we get through this, you'll be a celebrity and you'll be able to hire a bodyguard and go wherever you want! You can be safe everywhere!"
As far as Garrot is concerned the only way to be safe everywhere is to be combat-trained in a world without the Wizard but, like, details. And of course he's not going to acknowledge the fact that at least a few people die against the Wizard every year, either... Instead he'll just grin as encouragingly as he can muster.
