Day 3: Evening
Evening: 5:00pm - Midnight
[ IRL Timeframe: June 16th toNo matter when the heroes defeated their monsters, or when the sixth monster was defeated and there were none left, everyone will be treated to an unfortunately familiar feeling. The world of the past will fade, slowly at first but gradually increasing in pace until they pass out to blackness.
Everyone will wake up on a beach, and not a beach in the town their residence is in. Looks like everyone will need to take the train back home or go for a really, really long walk.
More unsettling than that is that every hero will either have a decent suntan or a mild sunburn. Social media is abuzz with comments about the island "going still" and the knights "dead on the beaches". There are reports that all twelve knights and the princess were all defeated at the same time and left on the beaches as an advertisement that the world was over this year.
Naturally, the heroes will realize that they are not, in fact, dead. Better do some damage control, there. Anyone who tried to make any recordings in the past will find that the files are corrupted and unavailable. Looks like whatever happened is going to... stay in the past.
The heroes who are due for an evening visit in the Princess' Dream Citadel or in The Wizard's House will arrive there the moment they sleep.
The Weather
- Warmer than yesterday.
- 77°F / 25°C
- Everyone's in a bit of a panic!
Prompts:
- 05:00pm Beach Wake-up Call: Every hero will wake up laying on the wet sand of the beach. There's waves gently lapping at them, waking them up slowly from their abrupt return from the past. Everyone will feel a little groggy and their clothes will be uncomfortably crusted in sand. Here's to hoping that saltwater and sand will wash out? Make sure to remove the little crabs that have started crawling over you!
- 5:00pm, Craydon: The residents of Craydon are all safely at home up the mountain by now. The only people still lingering around the Craydon beaches are fishermen working to prepare for their sunset runs. The offshore cages aren't going to empty themselves, after all! Fortunately this means they have, and can offer, blankets and hot drinks while they're heading out. It's not much, but they're here to help. At least the heroes are hopefully not alone?
- 5:00pm, Bamborough: The residents of Bamborough are really just the locals, concerned for the future of the world and of the heroes. Instead of waking up alone, they'll find little boxes of dry towels and bottled water beside them. Looks like the residents were pretty sure they were going to wake up at some point because they've left little kits to help them wake up with. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. The boardwalks of Bamborough are empty, with not a single soul out and about. The local shops, though, are pretty much business as usual. They'll immediately bustle in excitement when the heroes show themselves. Also: Free showers near the beach boardwalks! Better get all that crusty sand cleaned off.
- 5:00pm, Far Haven: The city of Far Haven is simultaneously the most cold and impersonal and the most immediately helpful. Each hero in Far Haven will wake up with a little walkie talkie beside them. If they pick it up and reach out, they'll be immediately told to come to the Far Haven hospital for immediate medical assistance. Once there, they'll be offered a free shower, water, hydration, a medical checkup, and a free coupon for the Craydon hot springs. There are even little kits set out for the knights in other towns. But... there's no one to bring them to the other towns, whoops. Guess they're carry-out only?
- 5:35pm onward, Train station(s): The train has a pretty reliable schedule for the evening, ending in Far Haven at 11:25pm. One way or another, the train is going to be how your hero makes their way back home to sleep for the night. Will the ride be uneventful, or will it be spent with others?
• Bamborough: 6:45pm, 8:30pm, 10:15pm.
• Craydon: 7:20pm, 9:05pm, 10:50pm.
• Far Haven: 6:10pm, 7:55pm, 9:40pm, 11:25pm.- 6:00pm, Bamborough: In the outdoor seating area of Slyder's Wizard Sliders, a Wizard-themed burger restaurant in the most touristy area of Bamborough near the waterfront, the Wizard herself is seated at one of the tables under a big umbrella. Despite the big umbrella, she's still wearing her massive hat: Double shade from the setting sun. Sitting on the table is a small wizard-themed drink with little lightning bolts sticking out of the blue liquid.
- 8:00pm, Far Haven: Social media is quick to add the #wizardsighting hashtag to posts made by officers at the police station in Far Haven. The Wizard is seated up on the rooftop ledge of the police station, legs dangling over the third floor edge, surrounded by fireflies sparkling in the night. All a hero has to do is tell an officer they'd like to go up to talk to the Wizard and they'll be escorted to the elevator to the roof. Up you go, heroes!

Zafika has arrived to Craydon, finally, and they've just left the train station, trying to navigate their way over to the hot springs, the moment they got that free coupon they decided to take advantage of it. Still, it's bit difficult to navigate their way to a place they haven't visited before, so they're going to be wandering for a good bit, and any Knights interested in talking to them are welcome to do so.
Just, uh, don't expect them to stop while talking. They've had a long day and they really want to relax as soon as possible, and possibly ease their exhaustion in advance.
B. The Hot Springs, indoors
Zafika finally arrives at the hot springs, but they're going to be fidgety about, actually going to the counter. Maybe they shouldn't actually go there at all, they're unsure how public these hot springs are and if there are any, private options for just the Knights at least. That'd be easier than going to the hot springs with the general public. They haven't exactly had time to go and grab the glasses they got from Garrot, this place is in the opposite direction of their lodgings, so the less risks of accidents with civilians, the better.
So, for now, they're weighing the pros and cons of if they should just say fuck it and do it or if they should just, go home and sleep instead.
C. The Hot Springs, the actual hot spring, private with Gyre
Well, they've finally made it to the actual hot spring, and as they sink into the warm water, they wish they'd have come here sooner. They practically deflate with a content sigh after sitting down, and they can almost feel all the tension leaving their body as they submerge up to their neck into the water. It feels so, so very nice, and it's perfect for relaxing after a shitty, and incredibly exhausting day, both mentally and physically.
They're going to be in the water for good few hours, resting their head on the stone ledge with their eyes closed. They have their blindfold within an arm's reach, just in case if any of the other Knights show up, or that granny they're staying far away from decides the get chatty, but hopefully they won't have to worry about having to wear that until they leave.

She makes her way to her housing as soon as she can, already searching for her personal phone in her pouch on the way there. While her elderly mother isn't social media savvy, Rory was sure someone in the village would let her know the news, no matter how much everyone disliked her. She had to set things straight before she could suffer too much grief.
"Ma? Ma! I'm okay, I'm alive, something weird happened over here and I think people overreacted, I don't know, but point is I live."
She spends the rest of the night talking on the phone with her mother. She and her can both rest easy when they're caught up on each others' lives, hectic as they are. Tomorrow will be better.

"Ughhh." he groans again, with exaggerated emphasis. Waking up in unfamiliar places was seriously getting old. Whoever dropped him here didn't even have the courtesy of landing him out of the ocean's reach?
Luka pulls himself up, finding the care package in the process. He elects to ignore the courtesy, reaching into his soggy breast pocket and retrieving his phone.
"Great," he says aloud, assuming he'd woken again alongside the Knights. "Who else is here, this time?"

It doesn't take long to see the moon shattered across the sky and realize it's the present day. It doesn't take long after that to find the radio on the ground. It takes much, much longer for him to consider his options with it. He actually sets the radio down and stands up, making his way towards the buildings he can see in the distance without contacting anyone.
About halfway up the beach, he stops, sighs, and turns back around, snagging the radio with a sour expression on his face.
Later, after the shower, and the water, and explaining to two separate doctors and a half dozen nurses that he doesn't really need the check up, he's walking out of the hospital again. He moves past the waiting kits and pauses there, looking them over for a moment. He takes the first one, sitting down in the waiting room to poke through the contents of it. There's not a lot for him, mostly soap and water in a bottle, but all the little grain snacks will probably be good for the rest of them.
It takes him several minutes of deep thought as he debates how to tell the other knights and the princess to come here for free stuff. It's only after he looks across the room and sees the receptionist pull their own phone out, that he uh remembers that texting exists. And so he sends a text into whatever the most recent group chat is:
Three are
"Fuck," he murmurs as his finger brushes over SEND and the incomplete message shows up on the screen. He's immediately flustered, his shoulders going tense, his grip on the phone tightening. He thinks very hard about just putting it away, but he shakes his head a little, typing quickly, messily.
Boxes wtih food ndsope in far havne general
Which is a pretty okay text for someone who can't write in Common and has never texted before.

But instead, they wake up on a beach, feeling actually arm. Huh. Would you look at that. They're probably the only one who only got warm, as scales can't really get tan. They sit up groggily, brushing off sand from their person wherever they think of removing some from and groan, feeling exhausted still. And hungry. Oh gods they're so hungry, when's the last time they ate? The previous day, absolutely, after that they never even once thought about food.
As they flop back onto their back on the sand, their tail brushes against the walkie talkie, and they realise much to their discomfort that the inhabitants of the island are back, and some have dropped by. Great. Still, they pick up the walkie talkie, and make quick way to the hospital for that shower and a check up.
Right after that though, they're out of the hospital, and they're looking for a place to eat at. If they bump into any of the other Knights in Far Haven, they won't stop for a chat, but they're welcome to walk with them, maybe recommend somewhere to eat at.

Pointedly ignoring the walkie talkie for now, she then strips off everything else but her one piece and actually wades into the water, dunking her head under for good measure. She much prefers the feeling of ocean water on her skin to the sand that had been encrusting her just before. Finally, she emerges from the ocean and fires up the walkie talkie. At the hospital she refuses a shower, preferring to do that in the privacy of her room, but accepts a water bottle and has a doctor take a peek at her wounds, which are miraculously all healed up by now thanks to Terrence. She also takes the hot spring coupon, but she’s unsure about whether or not she’ll use it.
[feel free to thread with her while she’s still on the beach or when she’s leaving the hospital]

"Come on... yes!" His face lights up, and Garrot's grinning ear-to-ear as he holds his phone facing himself. A video call? "Hey- yeah, I'm fine, I promise." A beat. "Look, if they thought we were dead, they could've checked for a pulse first!" He laughs, loud and boisterous and completely disregarding the world around him. But then he sighs, becoming solemn.
"There was... weird Wizard magic today. It's hard to explain on my own, but..." It's kind of difficult to explain Wizard-triggered time travel and children in obelisks and arm monsters in one day. And then all of sudden he looks offended. "I said I was fine! If you think I look rough, you should've seen that monster!" Once more, Garrot looses a booming laugh that sounds just a little forced.
[ I figure people can tell him to be less Loud, shoot the shit about time travel, or try to engage with the phone call and watch Garrot get very embarrassed. I'll roll with whatever. ]

Train from Far Haven to Craydon, 6:10 onwards
Civilians on board the train are giving them their space and time to just be, either out of kindness or because they're intimidated, but they'll take both. They couldn't handle talking to anyone else except the other Knights or the Princess right now. So if there are other Knights or a single Princess on board feeling like having a minor, exhausted existential crisis over time travel shenanigans, they're welcome to join Zafika.

Notably, she’s dressed a bit oddly. After waking up in the surf, she’d ditched her jeans and ruined boots, found a pair of flip flops, and tied her jacket around her waist. Otherwise, she’s just wearing her one piece and definitely smells of the ocean, her hair is a bit stiff and windblown from the salt and windy sea breeze.

Train from Bamborough to Craydon, 6:45 +
In his left hand he's gripping his currently non-functional phone. Feeling cut off from a main source of communication and having awoken in such a condition has left Luka extremely on edge. Approach with caution, if at all.
Train ride (Craydon -> Far Haven, 7:20 - 11:25)
But it's tempting to just sit in the train for a few hours, watching the modern world's version of the island go by, and reflect on the changes from just earlier this day.
And, well... she has no other pressing business, and most of the knights use this train to get around. It's the best place to be, to confirm that everyone's alive and well.
Seeing the #wizardsighting trend start up, so shortly after the Far Haven stop disappears behind the train, is a reason to stay onboard all the longer. She doesn't know what she would say if she saw the wizard again today, but she's sure she'd want to say something. Tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow.
Partway through the second loop - sometime after 10pm - she falls asleep on the train. Thankfully her stop is the last possible, so when the conductor does a sweep and finds her, they're able to shoo her off in the right direction without incident.

Bamborough → Far Haven (8:30 +)
She has her hood up and she's currently looking at her phone, searching the web for any and all news about what happened today. She wants to make sure that they didn't miss anything important, but also she needs to know whether pictures of her on the beach were taken. The world has never seen her face, and after being chosen she avoided interviews well enough that people only know her first name. The thought of losing her anonymity puts her so on edge that her appearance seems to be shifting every few minutes, almost like a nervous tic, but she doesn't seem to notice.]

Once he arrived though, he realised he was absolutely STARVING. He remembered there was some places near the waterfront and he Should have money for something small. It just happened to be the first place he noticed was the Wizard themed Slyder's Wizard Sliders. That would do.
And then he noticed the Wizard. Oh No.

It's too much. It's far too much. Matilda Hamilton has endured a lot of things today, but this-- this is where she draws the line! She storms up to the umbrella shaded table, her cheeks flushing bright scarlet (from sunburn, or blush? there's a lot of new freckles there) as she throws both hands down on the table, the very image of dramatics and distress.
"Eating at your own themed restaurant?!"

He turns thoughtlessly to head into the building to climb up to her, and he only stops when he notices the heading over the door. Police. He wrinkles his nose in distaste, stepping back from the door. It's not his preference but he can figure out a different way. He crosses the road, standing on the opposite sidewalk and looking up at her. He gives her a moment to notice him, before cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting up at her, "WIZARD! Come down here!"

So here he was, eager to have a word with her. He's donned an outfit typical of him, but one carefully planned for this confrontation: one (1) flouncy, open shirted blouse adorned with ruffles; a long, pleated skirt of gold lamé that reached the floor (secured with a white, genuine dragon-leather belt), and an intricately crocheted neck piece worn from the throat and reaching down to mid-torso. He refused to be outshone by the Wizard.
He taps his foot impatiently in the elevator ride, arms crossed, not completely sure what he was going to say. He had a lot of grievances with her and didn't particularly know where to start with them.
"What the FUCK was today?" is all he's come up with, shouted loudly in her general direction as he exits the elevator.
